Could the Ga'uld be real or would that be fake.

Klems, I hate to slam the idea you read, but the limestone blocks are not of uniform size and consistency. I have read about that theory, and it has since been pretty much dismissed.

Not a problem, it wasn't my idea in the first place.

At the very beginning of this thread, I had sought out to explore where the genre of Stargate was both concieved and evolved from. Obviously, Stargate takes us to the very fringe of speculation; but it is done for our entertainment, and not to convince anyone of realism where none may exist.

We've done a fair job of that so far. Obviously there are literally dozens, if not hundreds of examples where artifacts, or ruins don't seem to fit what we know about certain periods in the past. Why they exist, and how they came to be fuel our speculation of both, the dull, and the fantastic. Bomber has caught my attitude towards it all quite well.

I certainly believe that there is more to our past than is taught, or is generally known. On the other hand, while I allow for the possibility of even some of the more outrageous theories, that doesn't mean that I think what we DO know is entirely off the mark. In truth, I think given how much knowledge of our past has been lost as a result of wars and the ravages of time, I suppose we're not too bad off.

The Elephant carving in the ruins of South America (where as far as anyone knows, elephants have never existed), the Baghdad battery, the stone vases and statues of Egypt, and many other things that have been mentioned on this thread and not are all fine examples of the mysteries that inspire the questions we raise about the level of knowledge our ancestors had.

*** On a side note :: As to aliens and UFO's... I've never seen an alien, other than on TV, movies, and at least one dream (yes, I'm sure it was a dream.. ). On the hand, I have seen a UFO. As an Air Force vet, I've never encountered anything that could do what I saw (which wasn't much, but the little I did see was incredible). I could go into the story, but that is beside the point. Suffice to say, it is a big galaxy out there, and an even bigger universe beyond. I personally believe it is arrogance to assume no alien species could have come to our planet, either now or in the past. Why would they? Who knows. Not for the Root Beer.
(Maybe they just like our TV... )

I'm just curoius on this.
I have no idea. I think they may well have had some function similar to that claimed by Bauval. In fact, I have a fair amount of time for Bauval, who seems to be a pretty down-to-Earth and reasonable guy when Hancock isn't standing next to him shouting "10,500BC!" every five minutes.

Also, how come the body of Khufu, or any body for that matter was found inside the sarcoufagus (sorry for the spelling) when that one guy from Arabia opened up the pyramid for the first time since it was sealed?
Given how little was inside the pyramid, it's very possible that the all important body was sealed elsewhere. The caching of royal mummies was pretty commonplace, especially where the original tomb had been penetrated in antiquity. I should note that my studies were of New Kingdom religion, so the pyramids are a little before my period.

One last thing, how do you explain the picturing of Antarctica on some European maps, before it was 'discovered' in 1818?
They knew that the Earth was a ball and so they postulated there must be a snecking great continent at the bottom of the world to stop it rolling over. So I understand. Later on, there was some evidence from the study of the currents, IIRC.

Mr. Prophet and/or Bomber... I was wondering if you know of John A. West (I sort of have a feeling you might)?

If so, are you familiar with the Video documentary series he host, called "Magical Egypt"? ...and if you are, what do you think of them? I have DVD's 1 through 7, and I find them quite fascinating.

On the same note, have you heard of Laurence Gardner? ...if so, what do you think of his claims?

I only ask, because you both seem to be well read in the area, and also you have indicated that you have studied some of Egyptian history, and might be familiar with some of these authors.

I think they may have some interesting points, but as to how much of their theories and claims might be true, I have no idea. Interesting reading, none the less.
