701 of whom are apparently doing nothing but staring at a screen telling them they can't come in.

Sudden surge in guest hits like this, I'm thinking one of two things.

1. attempted DOS attack
2. serious glitch in the stats reporting code

Heck of a lot more likely than 701 people sitting there staring at a splash screen all night.

Well, when I counted, the stats were showing 495, and I counted 402 names in the list.

Even accounting for some people being on invisible, I still think there's glitch in the count somewhere. It's not a seriously big deal - it's almost impossible to get "who's online" counts to match up with what's actually happening.

And I'm really not meaning to rain on anyone's parade, but having spent a large amount of the past four years on a website that has, at any given time in any 24 hour period, approximately 10,000 people on the forums and hundreds of thousands on the site itself... 1200 people just really isn't all that big of a deal to me.

shows how much people really did like season 9 & 2 after all considering how it was when it first started with all the anti season threads

True, but with Guest Browsing turned off, those 752 people currently staring at the splash screen don't count.
