    SG-1 obtained technology and ships

I watch Stargate Sg-1 on Amazon prime quite often and I always notice that whenever the SG-1 team obtains any kind of advanced technology or ship they always seem to get destroyed, why?

At the end of season 4 we see SG-1 appear at the Tok'ra temporary world in Cronus' Ha'tak ship. The next episode the ship is destroyed.

Even in SGA we see the team obtain a hive ship and it gets destroyed.

Wouldn't you think the Real Air Force would keep these advanced technologies close and at least study them and try to re-engineer them, since that is what we would do even if the technology is way beyond us. I wouldn't think the SGC would really allow SG-1 to go alone and help the Tok'ra, wouldn't it make since to put a whole battalion or a Company on it to make sure its safe?

Also I know it is just a show but I am talking about if we really had this program in existence wouldn't you think that after we started to make contacts and allies and really get on the good side of like the Asgard and Tollan, etc.. That we would send more teams and support for the program to allow the support we need to keep our planet safe and to defend our planet from the Goa'uld, I would think that once we obtain a piece of advanced technology that can help us in anyway, whatever it may be, that we would put in the effort to the best of our ability to protect and defend it... Or am I wrong?

The problem is in the secrecy. It gives the sgc carte blanche but theres a limit to how many people you can include

Throughout the series they do reverse engineer a lot of the technology, but I think one of the key themes of the stargate shows is that this technology and these enemies that earth face are so far beyond our comprehension sometimes. Carter and McKay are probably the only two humans in the universe who come close to actually understanding lantian tech.

Well watch the show. Many of the technologies discovered are destroyed for plot purposes. As to the logistics of the SGC, the kind of program they are running is still very covert. They have an R&D branch at area 51 and multiple offworld bases and longer term exploration teams. As to having more teams and battalions etc, the SGC has a limited staff quota because of the secrecy.

Actually in terms of story, the more people involved, the worse things tend to be. Small teams can operate much more efficiently than a larger force. In Orpheus they sent multiple teams and managed to effectively overthrow an entire planet. One that had been resistant to most invasions up until this point. So its not numbers that actually count, its effectiveness. Small numbers of highly elite specialists can do so much more than a whole battalion, in the case of guerrilla warfare and recon the SGC conducts.

I think early on, the producers/writers did not want Stargate to have Earth to have a functional ship. They probably wanted to keep SG-1 on planets as much as possible even with the occasional featured ship episode.

IU explanation is well we saw the episodes and we know the reasoning. No doubt the decisions were not agreed upon by everyone. Early Stargate Command isn't like what it will eventually become at the end of Stargate Universe. They would have more difficulty than normal dealing with a ship in secrecy.
