That's why the Garand and Enfield were great for putting them down. They just didn't have the RoF needed to gun down so many infantrymen
well Churchill didnt want the EM-2 because he wanted the Brits to focus on the standardizing a NATO round, 7.62x51mm, yet the Brits's .280 sounded good, i would have adopted it if it was smaller and still had stopping power similar to .223, yet NATO/US wanted a .30 so the .280 was deemed too small...eh now we're in need of a larger round...6.8x43mm or 6.5x38mm

well the M2/M3 Carbines had an auto selection but it didnt work out so well...=[ yet some Brits used the M1 Carbine and variants throughout WWII and Korea as well...Brens and BARs kept us ahead of the Chinese and North Koreans...since they were using old Soviet WWII weapons and such...like i said before we just needed the 7.62x51mm FN FAL and M14 sooner =[

Actually, it was the artillery that kept us ahead. without that, and Armour, they would have overrun our positions everytime. it was the guns and air cover that saved us.

And bloody McArthur wanted to nuke them. Gung ho madman.

true true....air superiority as well...actually it was almost even really...damn Migs...

actually McArthur wanted to win the war, not leave it in a stalemate, yet there can be two outcomes with the atomic weapon uses...
            1) we win the war in Korea by stopping the Chinese
            2) we then go to war with the USSR and WWIII begins...and we all die...=[

yet McArthur was only thinking of winning the war, not leaving it in a stalemate like i said before...think of the atomic weapon drops in Japan, that saved millions of Allies soldier lives and tens of millions of Japanese from another 5 years of bloodshed...now McArthur wanted to use the weapons to stop the Chinese advance into North Korea, once the Chinese was stopped, the UN would be able to defeat the North Koreans, the only problem that Truman saw was the Soviets, as they had nukes and such, and WWIII could have started and we would i all die...=[

"In war, there is no substitute for victory."

so you can think he was too "gun-ho" and such, but he was a soldier and he wanted to finish the fight, honorable in any sense and win, by any means necessary

Pfft, why complicate things? Let's go back to the good old bow and arrow! Stealth AND power!

I've just read that the last bow and arrow kill in a European war was made in 1940, by a British soldier, former archery champion, who brought his bows with him to Europe and shot a German soldier through the heart during the battle of Dunkirk. The last use of bow as an army issue weapon was in the 19th century, in the battle of Leipzig- the Russian army had two 500-men regiments of Bashkir mounted archers.

Napoleon's soldiers didn't think so, not at first anyway. When they first ran into slit-eyed people in weird caftans who shot arrows at them, they greeted them with laughter and called them "Les Amours". Then they realized that it took a good deal longer for a French soldier to load his musket than it did for a Bashkir archer to nock an arrow. Bashkir bands didn't have much success in direct combat because cannons and volley fire by infantry formations scattered them every time. They caused their fair share of headache to the French though, by harassing their infantry on the move while scooting away at the first sight of French cavalry. On one occasion, Napoleon's own procession was attacked by the Bashkir archers, but a large cavalry detachment which escorted Napoleon kept them away.

NICE! i always thought that the bow was superior to the musket at those times in sense that more arrows could be fired than bullets XD
