stargate ship weaponry if fairly simple on how it works whats a little more complicated is the shields. Gould shields oscillate yet people running really fast can run through it but rapid fire enemy pulses cannot make it through in time, and atlantis's power source based shields and the ships buffer based shields. strength depreciates exponentially as the shield strenght drops lower, and multiple shots damage cannot be added as a+b but more like (a+b)^n power where n is what ever the writers want.

The Ori weapon looks like it uses brute force. It overwhelms the shield.
