How strong is the Daedalus' shields?

Because on the episode 'Trinity' we see the Daedalus take at least 3 hits from the Ancient weapon whilst the Jumper flies through the gate, yet on another episode (either 'lost boys' or the one after that) the Daedalus takes on 2 Wraith Hive ships and is down to 20% shields in seconds.

Stronger than most, but never strong enough. As effective as the plot requires.
    Wraith ships are giant lobsters.

Minus a ZPM or sufficient powersource?

Strong, stronger than most, except Ori ships, O'Neills, and possibly ZPM Aurora.

Need a ZPM or Asgard generator and the Daedalus will have Odyssey shield strength, which is greater than everything else, except Atlants.

Yeah, shield strength is most dependent on plot.

The Deadalus lasted pretty long against 2 Hives. Far longer than Aurora's did, see BAMSR'd. But BAMSR'd was very plot driven...

Wait till you get Weir's Aurora vs. Daedalus for comparison. If this is ever shown. I am sure Weir will have a jacked up Aurora with a ZPM and possibly other goodies.

Shield strength=(a=intercept variable)+Plot+technology+Race+residual (error term, which includes everything else).

but you also to have to take into account that as of the epi "the tao of rodney" super rodney created a program to increase the strength of the shields.

3 hits vs a constant attack by the Hives? The Daedalus took quite a bit of punishment, so, it is seemingly somewhat constant with shield strength.

Though, as stated, shields are plot driven really.

I'm pretty sure it took a lot more then 3 hits. Watch the episode again, we see a few hits, and then we hear a lot of thumps while inside the ship.

We never know if that was actually put into effect, though it is pretty likely.

Interesting question, though. I'd forgotten that the Deadalus took a few hits in "Trinity." It'd be nice if we knew how strong those bursts were...

Well the pulse weapon in trinity might have been designed to work against armor or bio-armor so might not have the same effect against the shields.

Daedalus seems to have very good shields to be able to take the pounding it did in allies/no mans land that ship shows how well it was made and TBH i don't think the other ships in the fleet had shields that strong when they roled off the production line.

Daedalus definetly has the most experienced crew which would play a big part in how well it preforms maybe it was on a different crew rotation during those times, maybe it was giving Odyssey's crew a taster who wouldn't be as experienced and therefore it couldn't take the pounding aswell.
if it wasnt for Carters new plot shield we would be dead

hopefully, now that the ori are finished (im assuming that is not a spoiler....) we can use the asgard generators on our 304s and have more power

Let's be organized. Let us list all the episodes where the Daedy took a beating and then estimate its strenght based on how many hits it took and how strong the hits are based on our estimates.

I am sure the writers have shield strength in mind, like a level list:

Level 1: Atlantis, Level 2: Oddyssey, Level 3: and so on.

And with those and the plot dictates the outcome.

as strong as the plot requires, and stronger than a hatak and weaker than a toilet(before unending)

This strong *Stretches arms really wide*. They're pretty tough, probably better than the ships on the Asgard ships due to the plot.
Robert Jastrow (self-proclaimed agnostic): "For the scientist who has lived by his faith in the power of reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountains of ignorance; he is about to conquer the highest peak; as he pulls himself over the final rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for centuries."
