We didnt see them all leaving just the last group and i said originally they took it with them cause it was broken not cause they needed it.

You wouldn't just turn into an icy pop the instant you were in space because there is not enough matter around you to disipate the heat into. If you were unlucky enough to be in some sort of cosmic gas cloud, then that would be your major problem.

I would think that the worst part about getting ejected into space wouldn't be the lack of heat or something to breathe, it would be the lack of external pressures counteracting the internal pressures of your body. Makes for things like exploding blood vessels and other things that are far more gruesome.
