It was said that the missiles were destroyed before impact.

Yes before impact on the ships but not before they exploded and the epm effects surgests otherwise.

*sigh* A nuke is not set off by impact, the chances of a nuke going nuclear due to damage like that is EXTREMELY unlikely.

Actually it depends, they do have to be armed first but they can be set to explode on impact. If you dont believe they went nuclear where did the emp come from. That certainly cant be caused by a nuclear bomb impacting and not going off.

Plot hole?! The early series showed massive numbers of them!

The only plothole I can see is the varying strenth of goauld shields but they clearly exploded as it was never stated otherwise in the show and the emp aftermarth surgests the contrary. Also there was an explosion which a missile impacting wouldn't cause on its own.

Yes it would, the charges designed to throw the WG Plutonium would cause an explosion.

What satellite network are you talking about?

They would cause an explosion but they are designed to survive such impact without exploding, usually some kind of electrical charge is the trigger as the charges are quite stable. Regardless there would be no emp released with out the nuclear blast in this case. So again how do you explain this?

It was our communications satilites in orbit that were said to be effected making it difficult to warn the nations or public.

I'd have to agree that it was simply a plot hole. TPTB are very confused when it comes to nukes. Currently our nukes do not go off. They just hit the shield and the missile just explodes. So it is unlikely that we actually had nukes that go off when it comes in contact with a shield and then regressed to our current missiles that don't go off. TPTB should really do a little more thinking about the missiles.

If you are going to provide valid proof, quote an episode.

The warning of nations and public was in TSL. Second, we didn't shoot any nukes off at anubis' ships because it would have told him that's the most powerfull thing we've got. Third, if we had launched nukes, they would have just impacted the shields without detonating the payload. I don't think there has been one time where an earth ship has launched nuclear missiles against a shield and they exploded. An EMP is not the only way to disable a satellite. He could press his handy dandy button next to his chair and obliterate the satellite with energy weapons. They don't give off any EMP's.

Why don't they set our missiles to detonate on impact? It would damage the enemys shield substantially more than now.

Gate Master was talking about the episode The Serpent's Lair, where we did launch two nukes. What is unclear is if the nukes actually went off before impact. It was said that there was an EMP effect caused by the missiles hitting the shield, thus disrupting our communications.

Because TPTB are very confused when it comes to space battles. That's simply the only explanation. Or maybe it's just cheaper to have just the fuel explode instead of having BSG type nuclear explosions.

They specifically stated in that ep that the warheads were destroyed before they impacted with the ship. Its the first time they even learnt that the Gou'ald had shields.
