I don't really see a point to aiming primary weapons at all. If people had three hands then maybe, but they don't.

Maybe I should make myself clear. No change to primary weapons as far as aiming, WASD for missiles.

Do it like First person shooter games...
Make WASD the move keys. Instead of hitting seperate buttons to shoot, select a weapon using 1,2,3, etc. Make Mouse button 1 the fire current weapon button. Use the mouse to "aim" the current weapon.

Oh, like in Metroid Prime with the Power, Ice, Wave, and Plasma beams.

That is a good idea in theory, but most ships have only one weapon, which is the main gun.

I'm seriously considering makind WASD the moving keys, but I probably won't make a 'select weapon' thing.

and as far as the wasd thing, if that is the case, then you should change the shooting keys as that would be hard to move and shoot. it would be uncomfortable. Ive tried it before and its hard.

I think it carries around eight but there may be more in the game.

I own a notebook pc and to be honest, wasd as the keyset would be a serious pain in the arse.
