Sorry, I haven't really been paying much attention to this topic lately. I'll add the next part of the scales as soon as I can.

And if a Mod reads this, could you change the name of the topic to "Ship Scaling Chart"?
You look but you do not see. You listen but you do not hear. You cannot accept us, but we are here to stay. You think we are just a shadow, a bad memory that will go away if you ignore us long enough but we won't.

We are human too whether you like it or not. We are here and our time is now. Together we can only soar. We will remain strong forever more, and nothing can quell our pride.

      Why not make two scales?

One for all the ships, excluding fighters.
One for smaller ships, Daedalus and down.

Again Battera, these sprites are AMAZING!!!!!
And the scales are very close and very good also!

      Great work!

I disagree with the following scales:

Prometheus, Daedalus, Hat'tak, Daniel Jackson, and Aurora-Type Ancient Warship.

The Ancient warship was said to officially be over 1km long.

If you use this image, while watching the episide Allies, you can see a person in this image and scale the ship from that person.

My scale got me approximately 1.2km, Exactly what was estimated by the statement of the designer of the ship.

I submit that as evidence to make it smaller.

As for the Daedalus, these images:

The Daedalus is officially in the ballpark pf 700meters.

The Prometheus would be a little smaller than that. I submit this image to prove the Prometheus would be in the ballpark of your current figure of the Daedalus, and the Daedalus would be 700m+, thus making the Hat'tak more like 800 meters, and the Daniel Jackson a little larger also.

'Panning shots', such as those that zoom into the windows to the characters, are often done based on what will make the shot look good, and not what is already aesthetic to the ship. This truth makes those shots suspect. If you can find any other screens to support your claims, I will look into it.

I may make a "smaller" scale chart for the smaller ships and constructs including the stargate, and various fighter craft.

Battera your scale for the hive ship is not 11 kilometers. It is about 13 times the Daedalus size. so it would be 586 times 13 which would be 7618 meters. Here is the proof http://content.answers.com/main/cont...Hive_scale.jpg

That site will show the daedalus in side a hive ship. so you were off by 5000 meters. sorry to break your scaling chart

Did you know that on another one of those computer pictures, they showed the supergate as having only 50 or so segments, but later in that same episode the supergate itself had 90 segments. Those sort of images are not canon, and are not regarded in the scale.

Thank you, and have a nice day.

P.S., can someone sticky this topic to make it the official argument thread about the size of ships?

And either way the Hive is officially stated at 11 KM. Why bother going through the work when the show actually gives you the answer?
There is no point to comparing the picture: We know how big a hive is. Sorry to break your post that tried to break Batteras scaling chart.

than that picture is a load of crude. Still i really think the atlantis should be at least five kilometers.

The model on the scale is as long as it's shown on the show.

I know this topic is about dead, but I'm going to give it one last good bump to see if I can squeeze any more life out of it.

If it doesn't work, then I'll just let the topic die.

Sorry but I do not agree with the size of Atlantis in that. Atlantis is MUCH bigger then things like anubis ship and apophis's mothership. Its a ******* city.

If you want some proof, look at the pic of the daddy landing on atlantis, then put the daddy and Atlantis together on that chart, SOOOO different in size.

Aside from that I didnt think that their was TAHT much difference between asgard ships beliskner and oniel. Infact beliskner did look much more bulky then the oniel when it was being made.

                          proof:

                          http://www.stargatecaps.com/sga/s2/2...gate18985.html
Its atlest smaller then half of one of the piers, indicating atlantis is much bigger then you've made it out to be.

                          http://www.stargatecaps.com/sg1/s4/401/html/681.html
                          http://www.stargatecaps.com/sg1/s4/401/html/408.html

Oniel may be bigger, but not THAT much bigger.

I think prometheus and daedalus are slighlty smaller, and daddy should be closer to prommies size. its basically prommie with a few addons to the shape rather then enlarged or anything. And while they are slightly smaller, the wraith hive should be reduced to match the size of the daddy, the asgards reduced to go inline with the prommie, and I think the city still needs to be much bigger for daddy so sit in atleast under 1/2 of one of the piers.

And aside from proven points, doesnt it theoretically seem weired that an ancient ship like orion can fly on its own power source, yet a "ship" of simular size like atlantis needs 3, yes 3! ZPM's to fly properly. Not even the slightest bit weird?

Ok, I looked at your arguments for Atlantis and the O'Neill, but next to ignored the others. The size of the ships in the scale is not derived from the ship's use, design, or function, but is instead taken from what is seen. They do, in fact, call it 'SCIENCE FICTION' for a reason

                            Atlantis:
You can also tell that the Daedalus is landing near water, so unless you can tell me which pier, and where on that pier the Daedalus landed, I'm afraid it is not helping.

                            O'Neill:
Yes, the O'Neill is not much Bigger, but the size in the scale is taken from the latter ships of its class seen in 'Revelations', 'New Order', and some others. There hasn't ever been much good comparison between the two anyway.

Taking into account that their in some distance between the ships in teh pics and not so much in others, I think they do look roughly the same in there.

I thinks thats enough proof to sya they were more roughly the same size.

As for the pier, you're right I dont know which one, but its clear that either daddy is smaller of the city ship is much bigger, most likely the altter, but I shall try to find out.

You say the prommie and deddy are roughly the same size yet Atlantis is much bigger than Anubis' mothership but 'Lost city' contradicts that. There isn't a screencap of it I looked but when the prommie is flying away from Anubis' mothership as its about to be destroyed by the drones it looks like a deathglider in comparison.

It also seems his second mothership was much bigger than his first one, this screencap shows it in comparison to normal ha'tak yet in 'Lost city' again it looked much bigger.
