Long, on the other hand, forecasts rain. Lots of it. On Yvan Morisette's amazing set, symbolizing a North Shore house buried in detritus as it slides down a sloppy slope, the real-life couple of Tom McBeath and Karin Konoval portray a married pair driven mad -- and not just by three continuous years of rain.

The world of auditioning and the world of acting are two totally different realms with their own unique challenges. Actor Alex Zahara is well acquainted with both worlds and will offer some perspective and advice on acting for the camera and auditioning for film and television during GPLT’s Reel Shorts Film Festival next week.

“When you’re acting you might be in a car, turned around and talking to somebody in the back seat. When you audition for that role you have to make it look like you’re talking to them in the mirror (because you can’t turn your back on the audience),” he offered as just one example of the things he’ll be dealing with during the workshop

In the world-premiere Arts Club production of Michelle Riml’s Poster Boys,
Caroline (Lois Anderson) is a take-no-prisoners, 41-year-old advertising
executive who gets sideswiped by her past when she casts her ex-fiancé Jack (Scott Bellis) and his partner Carson (Daniel Arnold) in a credit-union advertisement. While loosely based on the very real Catholic Church boycott of Vancity for a series of ads featuring gay couples in 2003, the story line reads more like a W Network movie, in that Poster Boys is really concerned with Caroline's own stunted emotional development.

                                .........

Ignoring evacuation orders and clinging to their teetering home are Stuart
(Tom McBeath) and Marsha (Karin Konoval), a middle-aged couple who dream of selling their derelict structure for enough money to resettle in the promised land of Kitsilano.
