I saw Ben Browder at the Farscape con this past weekend. He told a great story about working in the Arctic which I hadn't heard before. Shall we say it was about the challenges of going to the bathroom in 35 degrees below zero. Very funny stuff.

It sounds the mini-series which he is writing with Andrew Prowse is moving forward. He said they've turned in a 40-page outline to SciFi and it's at the "notes" stage.

Lastly, he mentioned he'll be back in Vancouver in December for some sort of premiere of the Ark of Truth.

Thanks MediaSavant! This thread is a good place, as well as perhaps the Farscape section? Or even the Ark of Truth movie thread in the Stargate Movies section?

But this is a good place too! Thank you for posting the information.

I'm really curious about the Vancouver "premiere!"

Tony Todd, who appears in the upcoming straight-to-DVD SF movie Man From Earth, told SCI FI Wire that he gets to play a college professor this time around, a departure from the often-makeup-heavy roles he's played in other genre movies and TV series.

The producers recently viewed a mix that included the visual effects and soundtrack. The final mix is due out soon after the mix they reviewed is updated with the changes from their notes - that is the premiere that Joe Mallozzi talked about in his blog that the actors would see.

Most likely that premiere is a private showing of the movie at the Sharpe Sound Studios in North Vancouver. It is the final version of the movie that hopefully will be what we see when the DVDs are released next year.

                    CHRISTOPHER HEYERDAHL

                    http://firefox.org/news/articles/846...uot/Page1.html

review of SMALLVILLE's "Lara" which had Christohper Heyerdahl (Halling from SGA) as a guest.

                    excerpt:

Smallville did, however, make a wonderful casting choice with Zor-El. Christopher Heyerdahl (who some may remember as Halling and a bunch of Wraith in Stargate: Atlantis) has been a favorite of mine going back to his Atlantis days, he brings a presence to the role that is just electric. His voice is positively captivating, the man could read the phonebook and keep me enthralled. I just wish they'd given him better material to work with. I had my reservations when Smallville indicated they were going to follow the DC reboot of Supergirl, having Zor-El and Jor-El at odds and at war with each other. I didn't think Smallville could pull it off (for the record, I don't think DC Comics can either), not with the tried and true Supergirl fans

1995 Genie Nominee Peter Williams who stars in the film alongside Ms. Forbes, is one of Canada's finest actors. Williams has built his impressive career acting in Canadian films such as "Soul Survivor", directed by his brother acclaimed Hollywood director Steven Williams, and "Love Come Down" directed by Clement Virgo, as well as many Hollywood film & television programs like "The Chronicles Of Riddick" and "Stargate SG-1".

A Winter Tale tells the emotional story of a Black men's support group that begins to meet at a local Caribbean Takeaway restaurant after the shooting death of a young child. It features a talented ensemble cast, including Forbes and Williams, and took home the Outstanding Canadian Feature Film Award at the prestigious ReelWorld Film Festival, as well as Best Feature at the Trinidad Film Festival, among several other awards.

Reel Advice: Chicago Massacre: Richard Speck

By Steve Anderson Nov 7, 2007, 11:43 GMT

There are days when I'm convinced I'm one of the last dozen people on earth who remembers when Corin Nemec was Corky. And worse, who remembers when he was Parker Lewis.

                        **snippage**

All in all, not bad. A decent performance from Nemec and a little bit of actual narrative goes a long way in "Chicago Massacre: Richard Speck". If you're looking for something harrowing and horrifying, then you could probably do a whole lot worse, unless you can't stand a story where you already know the ending.

Chicago Massacre: Richard Speck is now available at Amazon. As of yet, there is not a release date for the UK. Visit the DVD database for more information.

We’ve received a lot of letters from distracted male fans like you. “I’ve gotten dozens of marriage proposals,” says Jill Wagner, 28, who had just $150 in the bank when she landed her Mercury gig three years ago. “I shoot a few commercials each year, and the exposure has led to other acting jobs, such as the Sci-Fi Channel’s Stargate Atlantis.” She doesn’t look like an alien to us.

                            Q. The woman in those Mercury TV ads is so gorgeous, I forget to look at the cars. Who is she?

Actually the question about Jill Wagner was in the November 4th edition of the Parade magazine and not in this Sunday's edition. I know because I have the article.

                              GARDEN BAY MOVIE

                              By Greg Amos/Staff Writer

Garden Bay residents have been dying to get a small part in a horror film shot in their seaside community last week.

The film stars Tara Reid, Vancouver-based Jonathan Scarfe and local boy Aaron Pearl, who was born and raised in Sechelt and graduated from Chatelech Secondary School. Pearl, who had significant parts in the two most recent X-Men movies, describes his character in Vipers as “the in-between guy.”

“I play Jack Martin, a local family man, whose character arc goes from being self-centred to realizing the value of his family,” he said.

Pearl was studying at a Baptist seminary with the intent of becoming a priest when an opportunity to work as a model came up — a move that led to him to begin his film career at age 24. Now 35, he’s acted in numerous big-budget movies and has had many roles in locally-shot TV series such as Stargate SG-1, Smallville and Da Vinci’s Inquest.

For locals wanting to see more of Pearl, he said people can catch him in Christmas Miracle, a movie about a family on a snowmobile adventure in the Rockies. Pearl said it should be out on DVD in time for the holidays.

                                REVIEW: Conan

                                Sunday, November 11, 2007

                                CONAN
                                Game type: Action.
Platforms: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3; reviewed on Xbox 360.
                                Maker/price/Web site: THQ/$59.99/www.conanthe videogame.com/

Overview: You are Conan of Cimmeria, a mighty warrior of a long-vanished age of savagery, sorcery and steel. Conan THQ's take on the surly swordsman tries to be faithful to the character of Robert E. Howard's classic stories, with imagery that evokes the iconic paintings of the hero by Frank Frazetta.

                                **snippage**

Drawn from a rich heritage of literature and art, the Conan game is generous with both. A strong story unfolds, enhanced by excellent voice acting by Ron Perlman as Conan and Claudia Black as the warrior queen. Conan's craggy features and boulderlike muscles are laced with veins like a Frazetta cover come to life.

                                Rating: A.
