SG1/SGA - TV Squad: New Shows You're Looking Forward To?:

    At TV Squad:

Which of these new shows are you most looking forward to?

    Posted Apr 23rd 2009

    by Bob Sassone

The networks are going to unleash their new fall schedules in a few weeks. Which new shows are in the running? Well, Juliana Margulies is going to be an attorney (again), Kelsey Grammer is going to be a Wall Street CEO who gets canned (you knew you were going to see at least one show with that premise this fall), Lauren Graham is going to be a self-help guru, Chevy Chase and The Soup's Joel McHale are going to be community college students, and Thomas Jane is going to be ... well, Hung.

AOL has a list of the 30 shows that have the best shot at being on our TV screens when the fall rolls around. Not all of the shows will make it, of course. Some we'll never see at all, unless the pilot episode is leaked online. I'm still ticked that ABC didn't pick up Marlowe (with Life on Mars star Jason O'Mara) a couple of season ago.

    ~~**~~**

    Series include:

'The Eastmans' on CBS (Michael Shanks guest stars)

'Eastwick' on ABC (Jamie Ray Newman co-stars)

'V' on ABC (Morena Baccarin co-stars)

        EXCERPTs:

Production begins for original Canadian production, 'The Bridge'
        CTV

E1 Entertainment, 990 Multi Media Entertainment Company and Jonsworth Productions, in association with CTV and CBS Paramount Network Television announce that principal photography is underway on the original Canadian drama series, The Bridge.

Originally commissioned as a two-hour movie of the week and back-door pilot by CTV, 11 episodes will be shot on location in and around Toronto until August 12 to round out the first season. This start of production follows February's (2009) joint announcement by CTV and CBS of the deal to broadcast The Bridge in the United States. The Bridge is the third series from E1 Entertainment to be picked up by a high-profile U.S. network in the last 18 months, and the first for 990 Multi Media Entertainment Company. The CBS deal also marks the third Canadian drama series from CTV to be picked up by a major U.S. network in the last 20 months.

The Bridge follows fictional character Frank Leo (played by Aaron Douglas, Battlestar Galactica) and his climb from street cop to union head where he begins his quest to clean up the force. But the old boys network running the police force, and the city's self-serving politicians, won't sit idly by while a former street cop makes up his own rules.

The Bridge stars Aaron Douglas (Battlestar Galactica; Smallville) as outspoken union head Frank Leo; Paul Popowich (Angela's Eyes; I Me Wed) as Frank's partner and confidante Tommy Dunn; Gemini Award nominee Inga Cadranel (Rent-a-Goalie; M.V.P.) as Jill, the free-spirited detective on the force; Genadijs Dolganovs (Max Payne; Jeff Ltd.) as Jill's partner, Alex Volkolev; Frank Cassini (Vice; Intelligence) as Staff Sergeant Bernie Kantor; Theresa Joy (All the Good Ones are Married; Sixty Days) as the feisty tomboy Police Constable, Billy; Ona Grauer (Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis) as the beautiful, passionate prosecutor, …

            USA NETWORK GREENLIGHTS 'WHITE COLLAR'

            April 23, 2009

Series will star Matthew Bomer, Tim DeKay, Tiffani Thiessen and Willie Garson

LOS ANGELES – April 23, 2009 – USA Network announced today that it has picked up the original series WHITE COLLAR (working title), starring Matthew Bomer ("Chuck," "Tru Calling"), Tim DeKay ("Tell Me You Love Me," "Carnivale"), Tiffani Thiessen ("What About Brian," "Fastlane") and Willie Garson ("Sex and the City," "John From Cincinnati" [SG1's Martin from Point of No Return, Wormhole X-Treme! and '200.']). WHITE COLLAR will premiere with a 90-minute episode followed by thirteen one-hour episodes. The series will be shot on location in New York. The announcement was made today by Jackie de Crinis, USA's executive vice president, original scripted programming.

"'White Collar' is the perfect complement in our hot summer line up of character-driven originals that continue to draw loyal audiences to USA Network," said de Crinis. "The strength of the show's lead characters, smart writing and crisp direction are key elements that we believe are the tentpoles of another compelling series."

WHITE COLLAR revolves around the unlikely partnership of a con artist and an FBI agent who have been playing cat and mouse for years. Neal Caffrey (Bomer), a charming criminal mastermind, is finally caught by his nemesis, G-Man extraordinaire Peter Burke (DeKay). When Neal escapes from a maximum-security prison to find his long-lost love, Peter nabs him once again. Rather than returning to jail for his daring getaway, Neal suggests an alternate plan: he'll provide his expertise to assist the Feds in catching other notorious and elusive criminals. Initially wary, Peter quickly finds that Neal provides insight and intuition that cannot be found on the right side of the law.

WHITE COLLAR was created and is executive produced by Jeff Eastin ("Hawaii," "Meet the Marks") and comes from Fox Television Studios. Bronwen Hughes (USA's BURN NOTICE, "Breaking Bad," "Forces of Nature") directed the pilot...

SG1 - Ben Browder Interview on 'Freeze Frame':

              At the Ben Browder Portal:

(Please follow the link for the complete interview.)

Ben talks about Freeze Frame and Other Stuff

LAScaper interviewed Ben about his new role in the upcoming movie Freeze Frame. But talking to Ben rarely results in a straight question and answer session. The topics of conversation included the nature of veterans health issues highlighted in Freeze Frame, the movie’s promotional website, Freeze Frame’s award winning writer and producer Jonas McCord, when is a blog not a blog, the idea that artistic expression may affect social change, how tuned in fans are to his projects, coaching high school pole vaulting, fear of the dentist leads to sanity in stunt work, the joys of rhyming poetry, family pets, and then back to the subject at hand.

              Freeze Frame
is intended to add to the centuries old conversation about taking care of the men and women that fight to protect our freedoms. “What you’re really talking about is the state of individuals who return from war. And how they cope. In my estimation it’s a human story.” One thing’s for sure when you’re talking to Ben Browder. It’s always interesting!

Though the panel itself ran for an hour, only 45 minutes of the panel consisted of the Q & A session–the last 15 minutes consisted of a video tribute to the late Andy Hallett, who starred on "Angel" and passed away of a heart attack on March 29th, 2009. Check back here at Prime Time Geek in the coming days for our video coverage of the panel, which will include the video tribute.

You’ve got to love the Sci Fi Channel – excuse me, that’s now the SyFy Channel, as they’ve now changed their name to take advantage of an apparent cross-promotion with syphilis. They take a lot of crap over the generally pitiful quality of their original programming, but without them, where would we go to see movies about moths from outer space trying to take over the world? It also has a cast made up of people from various sci-fi related series, including Nicholas Lea (The X-Files), Steve Bacic (Andromeda), Teryl Rothery (Stargate SG-1), and Jamie Luner (I’m sure she was in something, the name’s familiar)...
