A Dan Hedaya played the title character in the comedy "Dick," while Philip Baker Hall stepped into the Oval Office for Robert Altman's "Secret Honor." In the TV movie "Kissinger and Nixon," Beau Bridges played the president, and Robert Wisden [SG1's Col. Samuels] will, too, in the upcoming " Watchmen." $45,000 Burns Manuscript Joins The Homecoming

EDINBURGH.- The National Library of Scotland has acquired at auction a unique manuscript poem by Robert Burns. 'The Battle of Sherra-moor' or, to give its full title, 'On the Battle of Sheriff-Muir, Between the Duke of Argyle and the Earl of Mar', is an account of a 1715 battle between Hanoverian troops (Argyle) and the Jacobites (Mar). The manuscript will be on display from tomorrow at a major Burns symposium in Washington ’s Library of Congress, where First Minister Alex Salmond is giving a keynote address, before completing its homecoming.


The song was adapted by the Corries in the 1970s as 'The Sherramuir Fight', and a reading of the 1790 version by Scottish actor Robert Carlyle is available on the BBC website (http://www.bbc.co.uk/robertburns/wor...of_sherramuir/).

Burn Notice: ‘Sins of Omission’ Preview

Uh-oh, my fellow Burn Notice fans. We’re getting down to the wire on the series this week since Thursday’s fresh episode, “Sins of Omission,” is the next-to-last installment of the current second season.

And, what a thrilling ride it’s been, complete with an abundance of top-notch guest stars and recurring talent, ranging from Battlestar Galactica’s Tricia Helfer to Stargate veteran Michael Shanks to one-timers like former 4400 star Joel Gretsch. I have not a single complaint about how the show has progressed during Season Two.

... Meanwhile, there’s also the matter of Shanks’ slick spy Victor, who showed up at the end of the last episode and forced Michael into a rooftop chase that Victor ended up winning. Although it seemed then that Victor is the person who tried to have Michael killed, is that really the case or, as usual, is there something else going on here?

Burn Notice has just two episodes left in the season to clarify everything. I hope show runners won’t leave us cold with a hiatus-long cliffhanger. For now, however, continue onward to watch a sneak peek and promo for “Sins of Omission.” The first preview clip alone guarantees I will not be missing this one — who can resist all those weapons and arguing, plus a thoroughly pissed Madeline?

Love You to Death fundraiser

More than 170 lovers and lovers of mystery gathered at downtown
Vancouver's Four Seasons Hotel Feb. 13 for Love You to Death, a
Valentine's Day-themed murder mystery dinner. The fundraising event
for North Star Montessori elementary featured a cocktail reception
with a silent auction and a watch raffle followed by dinner and a "who
dunnit" murder mystery. The evening was hosted by actor and executive
producer Amanda Tapping, of Stargate and Sanctuary fame.

GateWorld talks with Robert Picardo

Has it really been almost six years since Robert Picardo walked on to
the scenes as NID Agent Richard Woolsey? A familiar face in the
science fiction world, Picardo's character introduced a friction
between Stargate Command and Washington initially, but eventually
would grow to become a great advocate for the Stargate programs.

GateWorld talks with Picardo about his fifth season stint as commander
of Atlantis base and whether or not this made sense for the character.
He also introduces his family of pets. We talk about the legacy of
both Stargate and Star Trek, and his current projects both on screen
and with the Planetary Society.

GateWorld's interview with Bob runs almost 49 minutes, and is
available in video, audio, and transcript form! The video version
below requires QuickTime, but it is is also available in Flash format

GW: Do you think it was good that Atlantis ended its series run and is
now doing DVD movies or do you think it's too early to speculate on that?

RP: It's too early to say. I am confident they will make the first
movie. They've made the announcement. They haven't picked a time yet.
None of the actors have been contacted yet, but I believe that they
intend to do it. And I believe even the SCI FI Channel has made some
sort of ...

GW: I think they're going to run it.

RP: I do believe it will happen. I hope it's a great success. It would
be wonderful if, once or twice a year, you could be a Stargate fan
watching Stargate Universe and get your weekly fix of new Stargate,
but you could still keep abreast of the other Stargate branches with
yearly installments.

The SG-1 movies have been wildly successful, way beyond the studio
expectations. I hope that that bodes well for Atlantis.

TWO-NIGHT MOVIE EVENT 'KNIGHTS OF BLOODSTEEL' PREMIERES APRIL 19 ON SCI FI

Four-Hour Fantasy Adventure Stars David James Elliott, Natassia Malthe, and Christopher Lloyd

NEW YORK – February 24, 2009 – SCI FI will premiere the two-night movie event Knights of Bloodsteel (formerly titled Mirabilis) on Sunday, April 19 at 9pm ET with the second half of the four-hour fantasty adventure airing on Monday, April 20 at 9pm ET. David James Elliott (JAG), Natassia Malthe (Elektra) and three-time Emmy winner Christopher Lloyd (Taxi, Back to the Future) star in the movie event set against the backdrop of knights, sorcerers and dragons where heroes battle the forces of darkness.

Knights of Bloodsteel is produced by Reunion Pictures (Lisa Richardson, Matthew O'Connor, Tom Rowe) with RHI Entertainment, (Robert Halmi, Sr. and Robert Halmi, Jr.) distributing the project internationally. Reunion Pictures acquired the rights to the property from Industry Entertainment's Keith Addis and Andrew Deane. Emmy-nominated Sam Egan (Sanctuary, Jeremiah, The Outer Limits) wrote the script.
