Grace Park contemplates much-needed break after multiple TV, film roles

      Glen Schaefer, The Province
      Published: Sunday, November 09, 2008

Grace Park will be in front of a hometown crowd tonight at the closing of the Vancouver Asian Film Festival for Tinseltown screenings (7 and 9:30 p.m.) of her Korean-American crime drama West 32nd Street.

Meanwhile, multiple Parks are crowding the small screen. She debuts this week (9 p.m. tomorrow) in the second season of the CBC cop drama The Border, playing a tough-cookie U.S. federal agent, and she just got word that her Los Angeles-filmed series The Cleaner, in which she co-stars alongside Benjamin Bratt as part of a team of hard-case drug counsellors, will be back for a second season. As well, the fourth and final season of the brainy sci-fi hit series Battlestar Galactica was followed by a TV movie that reunited the cast this past September in Vancouver.

... a new face on CBC immigration drama The Border finds the show moves at anything but a snail’s pace. Los Angeles-born, Vancouver-raised actress Grace Park. makes her debut tonight as Agent Liz Carver, the new, young and impulsive addition to the Immigration and Customs Security team.

Park says that immediately after wrapping another program in Los Angeles, she took a red-eye flight to Toronto (what she calls a “smooth transition”) to start working on The Border. Right from the beginning, she says, she was very intrigued with the show’s technical aspects, particularly its speedy pace.

SG1 - Browder/Shanks - Den Of Geek: Actors Who Resemble Each Other:

          At Den of Geek:

(Please follow the link for the complete article.)

Top 150 actors that resemble each other

          Martin Anderson

Take the Den Of Geek eye test with a mammoth round-up of celebrity doppelgangers…

Not all actors that look alike are in the 'separated at birth' category - a resemblance can be a very fleeting thing, and many of the comparisons here span decades…

          **snippage**

65: Ben Browder / Michael Shanks

It's hard when a show casts similar-looking actors in different roles but hunks Browder and Shanks have both adorned Stargate SG1, as John Crichton and Daniel Jackson, respectively. From the evidence of this pic, they're great mates too.

          And

45: Kevin Spacey / Currie Graham (Currie was in SG1: AoT)

Spacey-alikes aren't thick on the ground, but NYPD Blue's Lt. Thomas Bale captures something of the actor's off-beat physiognomy. Narrow eyes, a high forehead and a dimple-ridden smile are the key to the resemblance.

37: John Heard / Garwin Sanford

A familiar face in film and TV for decades, John Heard was most visible on the small screen as Governor Frank Tancredi in Prison Break. Sanford, a Stargate SG1 actor who frequently appears in sci-fi TV, shares that 'John Goodman' brand of lugubriousness with him.

8: Robert Picardo / David Lee Roth

Picardo earned his geek credibility as the psychopathic werewolf in The Howling (1981), the holo-doctor in Star Trek: Voyager and a hideous swamp-wraith in Legend (1985). David Lee Roth has played cards in The Sopranos, but he's a late starter.

                              Star-ving' actor Faustino finds work

The Bundys are back. David Faustino got his dysfunctional Married … With Children family back together this week for an episode of his upcoming Web series, Star-ving (early 2009, Crackle.com).

Star-ving, which co-stars Corin Nemec, is "the anti-Entourage," exaggerating Faustino's real efforts to find acting work since the Married years, Faustino says. "The whole thing came out of beating the sidewalks for years, running up against frustrations," he says. "At one point, we said, 'Let's write this stuff.' And we raised the volume up to 11."

Faustino, who played son Bud on the 1987-1997 comedy, was delighted that Ed O'Neill (dad Al), Katey Sagal (mom Peggy) and Christina Applegate (sister Kelly) came together for Star-ving, which will consist of 13 three- to five-minute episodes.

In the reunion episode, the real-life actors gather to read the script for a fictional reunion movie, with Faustino getting a rude surprise.

"When Ed sat down and (read) the line, 'God, I hate my life,' we were right back in the Married… With Children days." Faustino says.
