Buying any discs separetly would be fine for me. Like everyone else, I shelled out the money for the complete series AFTER I already owned each box set..and then some discs wre scratched. I already returned it once to Amazon, I don't think they would let me do it again, but if I could replace JUST the damaged disc...
Also, who do we need to talk to to get the bloopers released? All the fans have asked for it, and the people workingon the show have expressed their desire to get them on DVD, too. Who is holding this up?

Everbody, brace yourself.
Hows this for a idea, a ZPM (zero point module) lamp!!!! A full life sized likeness of a ZPM with a globe inside. When turned on it glowes like a charged ZPM. And with todays wacky and modern designed ornaments and trinkets its sure to be a favourite. Ive sent a email to MGM asking if they are ever going to produce them. Still no word but waiting anxiously.
who else would buy one?

The success or acceptance of many ideas goes back to how much they are. I remember on the old showtime site they sold jackets like those worn in the show. but for 150-200 dollars each...most folks said 'thanks but no thanks'.
There's a fine line for the company that gets them made to turn a profit without pricing it outrageously enough that a good chunk of fans just decline and won't buy.
Would the lamp idea be cool? sure. Would it be cool if it was $200? Not for me. I've pretty much stopped looking at collectibles because they are simply so high priced that i think 'yeah, not gonna pay $100 for something to sit on a shelf and gather dust, i'll buy something useful instead'

Though the computer skins would be fun. But I'd want a SG-1/SGC one. Or just the stargate.

it's like....buy a red sweat shirt??? 15 bucks maybe. Buy a red sweat shirt with the KC Chiefs logo on it? $30 minimum, probablly more like $50. You're not paying for a higher quality sweat shirt, you're just paying more than twice the price for a license (and the fact that as long as the license is controlled, people 'desperate' to own a logo'd shirt will pay extra for it)
I personally am not a person that deems a logo important.
If the price difference was, say $15 for non-logo'd and $20 for logo'd, i might. But not at the huge markup that usually happens.
Of course, i'm not a person that wears my Stargate t-shirt (yes, i own only one and that was a gift) in public because, i'm from the midwest. porn is easier to get than scifi
If i collect anything, it's more along the line of reproduction stuff. However, that is also the stuff that's the most expensive thus I don't even shop for it.
I used to dabble in a few of hte prop auctions, however after i noticed an odd coincidence of a brand new e-bay member bidding and upbidding hte price, rarely to ever win an auction, i stopped even checking them out.
Which doesn't have much to do with MGM merchandise i realize
But i do think that, given how 'stellar' our economy is, whatever merchandise they come up with needs to be priced more towards the affordable. Perhaps with the idea of making a smaller profit off of more sales than a huge profit off tiny sales.
The feeling is already there that - over all - fans are deemed as little more than 'pocketbooks with legs' and only the wealthy count. Producing 'exclusive' and overpriced collectibles only confirms that opinion
