Figures Needed for Stargate Completion: Which Ones?

Hello all! I'm new to Stargate, and don't know much about the action figures released. I'm looking to assemble a full gate with the ramp and DHD, but with the plethora of figures out there, I'm not sure which ones to get, and which I can ignore.

I'm not too interested in the figures or their variants, but just the pieces they come with. Can anyone here help identifying which figures are needed for completing the Stargate?

And is it true that I just need to get one of each unique character? In series 1, I can simply opt to buy Series 1 Colonel O'Neill, and forget about Series 1 General O'Neill, because they both come with the same Stargate piece?

What of Series 3 Daniel Black Ops? Does he come with anything useful? He's a unique character in that wave, but I'm not sure if he comes with anything for the DHD or not.

Can anyone help? O, I'm so confused. *nurses headache*

Series 3 Daniel comes with the same gate piece as series 1 Daniel; but he also comes with the crystal skull, which is really cool.

Yes, you need one Jack (no matter which), one Sam, one Daniel and one Teal'c for the gate.

And you need the ori prior and Mitchell for the two parts of the DHD.

I've read that the Carter figure came with the same Stargate piece as O'Neill. Is every Carter figure affected similarly?

And the full gate is comprised only of four pieces? Is this true?

Yes, four members of SG-1 - four pieces for the gate.

And I think it actually was Jack that has the wrong piece, since the one Carter comes with has the three little holes for the base and the Jack ones lack these.

Jack comes with the same piece of the gate as Carter. So you can build a gate without buying any Series I figures. Not the ramp, you need the Serpent Guard to get rhe ramp, but the actual gate.

You can also kit bash one. I have one made with the following pieces:
Black Ops Daniel
Carter
Teal'c
Another Teal'c

Of course, this means that the symbols are repeated on one piece, but it fits together and it's all oblong or anything. I am still waiting for my replacement piece in the mail, so I can take away the one Teal'c piece and have a REAL gate built...

The replacement piece offered by DST -- I suspect it's the last piece in my Stargate ring -- is this a unique piece that is unavailable with any of the released figures?

That is weird about the Teal'cs, I have never heard of that happening.
