Okay, for reasons too complicated to explain to those of you yet to read the book, the biggest laugh I got was the bit where Daniel, Teal'c and Major Boyd have to sneak into the SGC. Daniel and Boyd as escorts, Teal'c as their "prisoner". Much like the Han, Luke and Chewie business in Star Wars IV.

Boyd says words to the effect of "Wasn't there supposed to be a new Star Wars movie?"
There's a long moment of silence, then Teal'c replies "Let us not speak of it again..."
Yup - I laughed at that as well.

I have purchased all the Stargate books that Fandemonium has published and the two by Sally Malcolm (A Matter of Honor & Cost of Honor) have by far been my personal favorites.

I have 3 of the 5 and I also enjoyed A Matter of Honor most. Sacrifice Moon was good as well.

Sacrifice Moon and the two Malcolm novels are my favourites too.

I enjoyed this follow up. Good team novel, well written, well plotted, great characterisation. Reccomended.

FF, who'd like another book by Julie Fortune too, please.

Yes, Sacrifice was pretty good. It must have been difficult to write a novel based soo early in the show.

The next question, I suppose, is does Fandemonium have the rights to publish Stargate: Atlantis novels?

Long before you and I were born, others beat these benches with their empty cups,
To the night and its stars, to the here and now with who we are.

Another sunrise with my sad captains, with who I choose to lose my mind,
And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.

I just re-read this and again, it is very interesting. Nicely written, Jack was very well written and his angst was fantastic.

Well, I got hold of both 'Matter' and 'Cost' from Amazon purely on the basis of the Gateworld review. And, man was I not disappointed!

Given that I originally got them to be 'Bus books' for public transport usage - that was one hell of a mistake. Having spent the whole of Thursday night making myself not start reading (in case I pulled an all-nighter on them - not a good move when you're due to go to work at half past six in the morning), I got so engrossed on the bus on the next morning I nearly forgot to get off at my stop.

I then spent most of Saturday trying not to pick it back up again (after all, what am I going to read on the bus on Monday?). Needless to say, I succumbed midafternoon, going on to finish 'Cost of Honour' just after ten that same night. I guess I was luckier than you guys - I didn't have to wait for the sequel.

So much for the 'Bus book' thing.

I liked that bit, too. Best of all, despite everything, they still managed to scupper Kinsey's plans (blinkered as ever, the selfish old git). Always the best of outcomes!

It'll be worth the wait. Believe me.

                        Hang on in there.

There are so many reasons this book is fantastic. Pacing: wow! From pathos to humor; from introspection to action. I could literally see the movie in my mind as I read this. Characterization is perfect as always from Sally – and I especially like how Sam is written in CoH. She makes the whining, pining boring Season 7/8 Sam a distant memory [thankfully] and instead we’re back to resourceful Sam, a character we all respected Seasons 1-6 because she wasn’t just the token female. Though Jack takes center stage, Teal’c and Daniel are much more than just the supporting cast – and every line of dialogue is so spot-on for what we’d expect them to say. Even Hammond gets in on the action. The storyline is exciting and compelling [and yes, going back to what David Read says in his review, Vorash’s sun is not forgotten!].

Thank the maker for these books, which take us back to the glory days. Is anyone listening at MGM? Isn’t there talk of a movie in the future? You could do a heck of a lot worse than film these books. Because Sally is doing way better on these characters and their stories than the show’s current production team… it’s only a matter of time before the TV is switched off on a Friday night while die-hard fans just wait for the next instalment from Fandemonium…

Yay!!! It'll be interesting to see how the author chooses to write Dr. Beckett's Scots accent...

Well I'm about a quarter through and I'm liking the references to other things. Although Hammond says son far to much.
