regarding both points here:
1: the ori didn't create the gfate, and sure, being an offshoot of the ancients you would expect rivaled intl....
2: the ancients CREATED the gate, thus they would have been able to devise sumthing to protect from the "kawoosh".....
3: who says the sheilds aren't just matter/energy that flows in and around our time-space??
