Swiftcover.com to sponsor sci-fi on Sky (SGA)

Swiftcover.com, the Axa-owned online insurance brand, has signed a deal to sponsor Sky's 2009 science fiction season.

The deal will run across sci fi shows on BSkyB's Sky 1, Sky 2 and Sky 3 channels in a six month deal starting in January.

The deal includes programmes such as Battlestar Galactica, A Town called Eureka, Stargate Atlantis and Futurama. It was negotiated by Spark Media with Sky Media, and the idents were created by Swiftcover.com's retained agency, Mortimer Whitaker O'Sullivan.

Even though there isn't much of a connection between the product and sci-fi, it's a good deal for them, given that pretty much gives them seven-day a week adverts running on the channels. Sky has Sky2 set up for running all the sci-fi's these days.

Although, in a way, they come a little late to the party. Up to a few months ago, they would've been guaranteed SG-1 spots for four hours a day on Sky1 during the day. The Atlantis re-runs have come to an end now and haven't restarted at the beginning - whether that is due to the Christmas period or whether Sky plans to reshuffle their weekly afternoon scheduling.
