San RiG Fen and Shan follow Bray down to the lobby, where they get intercepted by a rather nervous looking soldier.
Soldier asks a bit uneasy: Cleric Bray?
Bray: Yes, what is it?
Soldier: I was told to escort the…wraith? back to the stargate.
The soldier looks questioningly at Shan. Shan stares back directly into his eyes, which upon the soldier tries to avoid his piercing look. Shan looks at Bray half amused, half questioningly. Bray nods encouragement and Shan leaves his friends to follow the soldier outside. As he turns around he can hear Bray mutter: “Of all the people to send…” the other half of the sentence is drowned out by the growing distance and the voices of other people in the lobby.
Outside it is baking hot as it approaches noon time. Shan shortly spots Bray and the others with a not unattractive human female through a window. He is rather outside in the burning sun than in there as they all look uncomfortable.
The soldier brings him to another vehicle and Shan climbs in while the soldier gets behind the steering wheel. IT is even hotter in here and Shan can’t help it but to yearn for the elegant and cool inside of a dart as he sits in this hot and crude human transport machine.
The soldier seems nervous and glances at Shan awkwardly from time to time. He decides not to try and make conversation with this human and starts to calculate the decimal places of the circle number to not die completely of boredom.
After hours they arrive at the stargate site again and Shan is escorted to a make shift station where a lot of people are brooding over papers, not caring for the elevated temperatures. Shan gets introduced to the head scientist Araknor, who shows him to a table, where a summery of the already done research is ready for Shan. He sits down and once and starts flicking through the pages. The head scientist and the soldier walk away to leave him to it. Shan through his keen wraith ears hears the soldier telling the scientist: “Have fun, that is the most strange and arrogant being I ever met”
Shan shakes his head and returns to the papers. The equations are faulty at best – this is going to be a loooooooooong day. He sighs and takes a pencil to start correcting the mess the humans have made.
