I rather liked Alien Resurrection. It was light years better than Alien 3. I thought the idea and interaction of Ripley and her 'baby' was interesting and the juxtaposition and interaction between Ripley and Winona Ryder's character very intriquing. Too bad Michael Wincott's character was bumped off so early in the movie.

OK, so I just saw Star Wars: Episode 3 for the first time last night. My initial reaction was: "Hey, what's Jimmy Smits doing on Star Wars?" My second reaction was: "This is kind of like watching a video game without being able to interact with it." My third reaction was: "Booooooring....(Fast Forward)" My final reaction was: "The last 20 minutes or so was pretty good....reminds me of the old Star Wars." Just for the sake of the last 20 minutes, it's not on my list......yet.

I try not to think of the latest three Star Wars movies. I saw the original in the theater 11 times when it came out in 1977. I got to meet David Prowse (Darth Vader) when he came to our college for a lecture (he's a very nice man) and he spilled the beans on being Luke's father just a couple of months before Empire came out (hoo-boy, did he get in trouble for that). My friends and siblings waited in line for six hours at the UA150 in Seattle to see the 3:00 a.m. showing of Empire Strikes Back and again three years later for Return of the Jedi. We had a blast! I made brownies, someone else brought Doritos, and someone else brought comicbooks to read while we waited. Star Wars was an important moment in pop culture for me.

I was SO looking forward to The Phantom Menace--it was far too long in coming. What a MAJOR disappointment. I loathed it so much that I can't even bring myself to see the last two. I guess it's a good thing George Lucas didn't go on to do the final three movies he'd originally planned. Oh well, at least I have the first three to get all nostalgic over.

But not as bad as 2001?

Strangely enough, no. I think 2001 is my least favorite on this list. I could probably bring myself to watch one of the Predator movies rather than sit through 2001--the most boring movie ever made.
