This topic has probably been discussed a thousand million times before but...Where do the ZPMs come from?Surely the Alterans had to make them...why doesnt the Atlantis database contain information on how to make them or even about where they were made?And given their potential for enegry production obviously witnessed in the augmenting of the Daedalus' systems why didnt all Alteran ships possess one,ie. the Aurora?Surely they would've EASILY beaten the Wraith with that kind of advantage.I dunno,opinions plz more importantly about the ZPM production.

first asking why all ancient ships didnt have a zpm is like asking why every ship in the navy doesnt have a nuclear reactor, nuclear missles and 400 ft thick titanium hulls

it probably took a long time to make zpms or the materials were hard to find or it might have taken supplies not native to the pegusus (although i doubt that one)

plus lets not forget every ancient city had 3 zpms advanced sheilds and wepons but still couldnt beat the wraith...

We will soon see another sister city like Atlantis capable of manufacturing ZPMs according to the latest spoiler in Season 3! I'm so very excited. Side note... why would anyone use such hard to make power source main power source for a huge city?...

But the Daedalus was able to pretty much ignore the Hive Ships in the Siege 3 when it had the ZPM in then why not at least have a number of Ancient ships with ZPM's,they used ZPMs to build devices to protect human worlds so why not put them in their warships or at least a few of them with ZPMs so the humans wouldnt need defending. Plus you didnt answer my question about where the ZPMs come from in the first place...why wouldnt the Atlantis expedition seek that more importantly than just looking for individual ones which could be depleted or low powered already.

Plus ZPMs dont produce power, they simply siphon it...why not use something that wont eventually expend or has a fuel sorce to power your city?

Because a city has unusually high power requirements requiring an unusually powerful energy source.

Nuclear power plants are exactly what they say...power plants...ZPMs may last for millions of years but are ultimately jus batteries.(So what they use Vacuum enegry instead if Lithium Ions but same basic idea!)

That's too bad, because why bother building something again if you can just recharge it. You would think the ancients would have at least thought of that. Then again, it would take massive amounts of power, like another ZPM, which kind of defeats the purpose.

the daedalus used asgard beaming technology to beam a nuke on board a wraith ship it had nothing to do with the zpm(accually i think the zpm was immediatly beamed down to atlantis when they got there)

But obviously the Daedalus had to engage the Hive Ships to reach Atlantis because Novak reminds Cauldwell that the shields, etc would be seriously weakened due to the absence of the ZPM.
