Thank you for the welcome guys!

See now... that welcome e-mail told me to introduce myself here, and I always do what I'm told... (My mom insists that the exact opposite is true, but that's a whole other story... )

Anyhoo... I wish I could say I'm a man of few words, but alas... I am not.

So here goes my long-winded introduction... you have been warned.

I'm a certified "GerManiac", but I've lived in the U.S. of A. for almost 10 years from '97 to '07. I mainly think in English these days, so when I have to speak German (being back and living in Germany again kinda makes that unavoidable), I essentially have to "translate things from English to German" in my head before I open my mouth. I even dream in English, albeit with the occasional German subtitles. Very annoying!

I have an incurable, hyperactive "goofball gene" -- hence the friendly warning in my message footer...

I'm a huge fan of good Science Fiction and Fantasy. (Okay, I also like some of the "cheesy" stuff on rare occasions in small doses..)

It all started in my childhood when the original Star Trek series with Kirk, Spock & Co. hit the German telly tubes. That was it: I was hooked.

I've watched every Star Trek episode of every spin-off series and all the movies.

Then I saw that Stargate movie by Roland Emmerich and liked it a lot.

Then I got into Babylon 5 and watched the whole show, all five seasons, plus the TV movies, from start to finish several times. (I was nuts enough to tape everything on VHS cassettes, frantically hitting the "pause" button on the remote to edit out commercials... later on, thanks to Netflix, I watched the whole thing all over again on DVD... I think I can speak a lot of the episode dialog in sync with the actors by now... )

While still in the middle of Babylon 5 (and Star Trek: DS9 and Voyager), I was delighted to learn that Showtime had begun to pick up Stargate as a series. It took me a few episodes to get over thinking of Richard Dean Anderson as MacGyver and seeing him tote big-honking guns, but his wry humor won me over very quickly. What also struck me as really exceptional from the very beginning was the outstanding quality of the musical score of the show. For me, that -- kind of -- elevated each episode of Stargate to "feature film quality level".

It was only years later that I did some actual digging to find out who the person was that was responsible for that great music, and suffice it to say: I was already a huge Joel Goldsmith fan, practically from the first Stargate episode, although I didn't know yet back then that he was behind those great scores. He then really totally blew me away when the Atlantis episode "Critical Mass" aired with that amazing "folksy" tune "Beyond the Night", sung so beautifully by the amazing Rachel Luttrell.

And just in case some people doubt that it was actually her singing in that episode: yes, she really sang that tune herself. She's not just a great actress, but also a fabulous singer, and also knows how to mix cocktails, as she's also learned the craft of bartending... a real multi-talent...

To digress even a bit further: I have it on good authority that "Beyond the Night" will be included on the next Atlantis soundtrack CD that Joel Goldsmith already has in the works...

Back to Stargate: I've seen every episode of both SG-1 and Atlantis, plus the two DVD movies, and I'm very much looking forward to "Universe" coming out this fall. Looks like they've assembled a great cast, and I also read on Joe Mallozzi's blog that Joel Goldsmith, once again, "blew them away" with his amazing scores. Can't wait to hear them...

I'm a kind of "jack of all creative trades" myself:

I'm a performing musician, I compose my own stuff, and I have recently built my own little recording studio and am currently figuring out the audio engineering side of things. (That "Joel dude" has really inspired me... )

I'm also working on writing some novels and screenplays (Scifi/Fantasy, of course -- what else? ) -- oh, and my Oscar acceptance speech, too... (One has to be prepared...)

Occasionally, I even get creatively carried away when I'm cooking, and the resulting recipes can be pretty "far out". It has been said that I turn into the "Possessed Chef" at such occasions, and I'm neither confirming nor denying that...

Okay, before this post exceeds the maximum allowed length, I think I better wrap things up.

If you can't get enough of my irresistible goofball self, I hang out a lot at:

http://www.productionforums.com (Look for posts from that strange "TwoRocks" dude, aka "the Silly Wabbit")

And, of course, you can find me at Joel Goldsmith's forum:

      http://freeclydejoelgoldsmithforum.yuku.com/forums/2

      Okay, I'll shut up now.

To paraphrase German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe: "Please excuse the long post. I did not have time for a shorter one."
Please: no beverage consumption while reading my posts. I won't clean your monitor. Nu-uh.
