Hello everybody!
I first saw Stargate about ten years ago, as it was shown in television here. It was due to my big brother's sci-fi nerdyism that I kinda grew into Star Trek and Stargate. My friend Mazojedi kinda got me to watch the series again from the beginning few years ago, but I'm still stuck at the seventh season. My favourite is Teal'c.

Nice to see that here are other girls/women that like the series, since I don't know any irl.

I'm Goose. My first time watching SG1 was December 2008. It started with Sanctuary and Amanda Tapping.
I could not seem to get enough...so for Christmas I asked for the mega DVD set. I then watched all ten seasons of SG1 in 15 days. (Yes I work, but I had been on bed rest for a bad back)
Since then I have also watched 4 seasons of Atlantis, yeah Netflix! (waiting for the 5 season box set before I buy). I own both movies as well.
It sounds like obsession, but it's not. Okay, well, maybe it is. I am cool with that.
Look at me taking up all the conversation. So enough about me, tell me about yourselves.

Hello fellow Gaters!

I've been lurking this forum on and off for months, and finally decided to sign up.

My first contact with Stargate was in the late 90s, but I only watched the movie and season 1. Then, last year, I went on a shopping spree and bought all seasons of SG-1 in a couple of months. Early this year, I got the first four seasons of Atlantis. Universe, with its "dark and edgy" slant and predominantly young cast, doesn't interest me.

My favourite aspects of Stargate are the mythology and the exploring. Daniel was my first favourite character, especially the cute geek of season 1, and I still love him, but my current "fictional character crush" is Rodney. What can I say? Intelligence is attractive, and I find it difficult connecting with military-minded characters.

I've been a fantasy and science fiction fan since childhood, but for the last few years I've been very "fickle", jumping between fandoms. I used to roleplay a lot, and write a little, but the pressure to perform became too much and I quit completely. I'm a fan of slash and hurt/comfort ( which, I gather, is called "whump" here ).

Stargate/Gateworld is my escape from real life, so I'm not going to talk about, or read, personal things here. But just a few points to make it easier for you to place me: Female, mid-thirties ( with a wildly fluctuating maturity level ), Swedish, librarian, cat person.

Looking forward to talking to you! Feel free to point me in the direction of any good threads to start my Gateworld experience, based on my interests! I've been lurking a lot, but I feel a bit wary "intruding" on established groups...

And now, I'm off to enjoy the beautiful spring weather while waiting for a mod to approve my post!

Wow, it must be great to share an interest like that with a family member! Mine have, over the years, come to accept my fantasy/sci-fi interests, but that's it...

Maybe it sounds weird of me to give you advice, since I'm so new here myself, but I'm going to tell you what's working for me: lurk around the forum for a while ( I spent months here before actually signing up, but that's just me ) and find out the tone of the different forums and how people write. Then focus on some threads or sub-forums ( episodes, characters, tech, merchandise... ) that you're interested in, post some nice posts contributing to the discussions, or drop by the threads of characters/actors you like and just tell them you're there. ( In my case, McKay thunk/appreciation and a few other McKay related ones ). Seeking out places where people who share your interests hang out is a good start.

I have the list now. But there are more flying monkeys of other colors and they all have thier own jobs. So if you see them, run!

I loved Continuum and The Ark of Truth, but I worry they won't make any more films a they've pretty much tied up all the lose ends of the Goa'ald and The Ori.

Don't worry Nettle, I have it on good authority there will definately be another SG1 film and depending on how SGU goes... a SGA film which is even MORE exciting!! Yay!! *bounces round room in anticipation*

Now I live in Canada, I would love to one day go to the Vancouver Convention

You lucky lucky thing... I recently went to Chevron 7.2 in Bedford which was AMAZING!!! But the Vancouver cons are 10 times bigger and better!

Hi, new here (obviously!)
Always caught SG-1 over the years and Atlantis and loved them but never was able to catch them in order - or truly know what the heck was going on!
So now I am watching SG-1 in order - currently I'm on S4 and am loving it. I love Sci-Fi and this show is right up my alley.
So much so that i confuse real history with SG-1 history - it's almost embarassing at times ;-)
I look forward to being here - lurking at first then hopefully posting when I have something half intelligent to say!
