Only if you put someone on Ignore after you've seen a rep from them - then they can rep you but you never see the comment, only the change in the running total. Or perhaps you've got muddled between a comment in Rep and a brief post in the thread that praises or critiques your post in the same way that Reps often do...? It's a mistake I've made myself once or twice, and the only explanation I can come up with

I noticed I got red, but then the post that I got redded for got deleted and the red went away. I didnt look at the total. Does the total go away along with the comment when the post is deleted? Or does just the comment go away? Also wonder if this works if you delete your own post or only if the Mod deletes the post? Not that any of this really matters, but just curious.

ya know, i've never played with that. i would guess, let's say you got greened for a post, your rep point is tied to that post (you can follow the link back to it) well if that post goes away, then it woudl make sense that any rep points, green or red, go away too since they have nothing to anchor to
there has been some deleting and editing going on the past several hours, which could account for your rep points going wonkers

Also note that there is not a one-to-one correspondence between rep votes and rep points. The higher a user's rep, the higher his or her "rep altering power" -- meaning a single green from the right person could boost your rep points total by 2, 3, 4, or more.

the only reason i'm hesitating to do this right now is, if darren has official eps threads, then i know he'd like folks to use those instead of thier own.

i think we'll wait and see for his decisoin on this one.
