Also why we are on this topic...someone brought up the linking to NC-17 fanfics I understood that was a no-no but they said they have been posting links to sites not the fics...is that allowed? What if the site is all/mostly adult fanfic?

A link to the Web Site itself is fine but not directly to the Fics themselves. However, Please keep in mind the LOOK of site itself needs to be PG to be linked. So if you have explicit pictures or words on the front page of the site then that is NOT PG and thus can not be linked

Um..OK, I think I see what you mean no nekkid men then...right got it.

I am going to post a link to the page I am hosting the vid and not to the vid it's self and state what is in the vid...of course that will just make them want to view it.... (I am sure it is PG, unless you're really conservative with the definitions)

Here's a question: Have you guys thought about having more mods?

Maybe, say, having one or 2 mods JUST for the GenGate forum, and one or 2 for the SG1 fora, and another 2 or 1 just for the Atlantis ones, and so forth.

It works pretty well at the boards I've been to.

Why are the McKay threads going through the works, sure there are lots of them but I'm sure the same can be said for other character threads, why are the McKay threads having an example made of them??

Indeed - while having more mods for seperate sections seems like a good idea on the surface, MHO is that the different sections of the forum are waaaay too intertwined for that set up to function particularly well.
Case in point - the McKay threads... We have threads in Gen Disc, C&R AND each of the season folders..... It's inefficient to have seperate groups of mods trying to mod seperate regions
(as much as I like the idea of having my own little fifedom )

With regards why the McKay threads - you're right, there are a lot of redundant threads, and we do try to deal with them as they come up. Right now, it's the McKay threads that have come to our attention, and so we're trying to reduce the amount of redundancy while trying to avoid stifling independent discussions. It's not a all or none thing, different perspectives come into play, and it may take a while to sort it all out.
I would like to note that it's not just the McKay threads that are under discussion, it's just happens that the discussion about them has become more public

Om my goodness me. I do apologise, my veggie thread seems to have spread...

BOTH of the thread I left regarding Rodney McKay are opinion to BOTH sides of the coin, Positive AND Negative opinions while NORMALLY Thunk, Appreciation and such do have a Prositive stance. So I am completely comnfused as to why this is bothering anyone to this degree *shrug* ALL of the positive Threads are still there...and there are now two Open discussion threads.

Regarding the characters thing, I think the problem may be that whilst yes there may be positive threads and a couple of open threads, there is no actual anti thread for people to post in, so instead they start a new thread topost an anti comment, but word the thread in such away it becomes an open thread.

Now, quite why the people who aren't happy can't start their own pure anti thread, I don't know, but then again, I try and avoid pro/anti conflicts on all issues, and very rarely go to the characters folder.

right now? well there have been some personal issues drawing attention to the mckay threads. and to deal with the personal issues, we need to do something about the threads.

We do tend to try and leave things alone as long as they're working and people are getting along.
