Exclusive: International Distribution Stalled Due to CBS All Access Rebrand

Exclusive: ‘Star Trek: Lower Decks’ International Distribution Stalled Due to CBS All Access Rebrand
As you can read above, McMahan states that the timelines for deals were disrupted by the Coronavirus shutdown. Unfortunately, this is actually not the case. The real reason for why there is no international distributor for Star Trek: Lower Decks is caused by something that is arguably worse: stubborn media corporations.

The truth is that the lack of international distribution of Star Trek: Lower Decks has to do with the rebranding ViacomCBS is doing for their streaming service. The plan is to overhaul their CBS All Access streamer with a new name, a new program design, a competitive price, new content, and most importantly, international distribution.

ViacomCBS is planning to launch their rebrand in 2021, with CBS All Access becoming available to more and more countries in the next few years. Meanwhile, international availability is set to be achieved in phases, with phase 1 countries being Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Sweden, Norway, and Finland.

ViacomCBS want to keep the distribution rights to the Star Trek franchise in phase 1 countries. However, the bigger streamers like Netflix and Amazon want global rights, which includes distribution rights in the phase 1 countries.
Don't say what their source is. No Lower Decks sub-forum?

Sounds like the same shell game the health clubs mastered a few decades ago.. Open up, sell a lot of "lifetime memberships" till they're too crowded to accept any more. Ok, all of a sudden, no new members/money coming in, so they declare bankruptcy or some other legal felgercarb to invalidate all those memberships. and start selling them all over again.

There is such a facility nearby that has done this at least 8-10 times since the late 1970's when it was first built and opened.

Until business and regulatory conditions force Amazon to give up and pull out.

PS: That WF store they've been trying to build in a nearby area has been stalled again... When the hell are they going to figure out that Wegmans doesn't want them here and give up?

You're right. I just googled "Orville cancelled" and CinemaSpot followed by BoundingIntoComics reported it. Add them to CosmicBook as Fake News sites, along with the ranting YouTube trolls. We need a blacklist for these sites, Reddit has one for the Star Trek forums.

International audience is not "waiting" around for these things... just saying... whatever the reasoning.

There's always... well, you know... and if you don't... what planet are you from?!?
