Default War of the Worlds (TV series)

Last night my wife & I binged the 8-episode first season of War of the Worlds. We don't usually watch more than a couple episodes of a show at a time, so that should tell you we liked it.

This is a European production, set in modern-day England and France. Not to be confused with the 1953 or 2005 films or the British miniseries that was made around the same time (2019), which was set in the early 1900's.

This series has been shown in Europe and the US. In the US it's being shown on EPIX.

Notable cast members are Gabriel Byrne and Elizabeth McGovern. Also appearing is Ty Tennant, son of David Tennant (10th Doctor) and grandson of Peter Davison (5th Doctor).

The series had a few good moments, the opening alien attack is how I imagine a alien force would attakc our planet. But mostly it was a bit slow plodding an not much happen. An they made a big mistake calling it war of the worlds, if not going to give me giant tripods, don't call it war of the worlds.

I'm hoping for season 2. Just so I can see the British army kick arse, so rare to see that on tv or film.

From what I read online, they started filming Season 2 in October 2019. Who knows how far they got before everything shut down for the pandemic.

It had me interested and I liked the urgency of the initial attack and the confusion afterwards but it really dragged after that...
