Interactive, functioning, 3D printed Stargate with wormhole effect.

    Hi everyone.
I am currently working on a 3D printed Stargate project, with wormhole effect, moving parts and a working DHD. If you want to check it out you can find it on my page here: https://stargate.datarommet.com
    Hope you like it.

What's the scale? I couldn't watch the video, and didn't see anything in the image to tell me--although compared to the gate, it appears the DHD is enormous.

The Stargate itself is about 39 cm in diameter.
The DHD dial pad is 10 cm in diameter.
I took an image with a bottle 0.5 litre bottle of coca cola in the mix to easier see the scale.

That's actually bigger than any scale model I've seen.

I have seen replica build DHD's and stargate's (by which I mean lifesize replica's) but scale models always are smaller than that.

          * The replica build by the French and the Belgians -- 2 separate groups. The one by the French is cooler, but don't tell my builder-colleagues I said that. Ours is cool too.

For the 3D printed models my guess would be that people make them smaller to fit the print volume of the 3D printer. I am printing my model in several pieces and putting them together. Also i found it necessary to make it at least that size to be able to fit all the wires, buttons, motors and lights on it. Currently I am trying to figure out how to add lights to the moving part of the chevron. (That "V" thingy). It's going to be a tight fit.

I like those life size Stargates. They are really amazing!

I imagine, you're going to have your work cut out to make it fit, but from what I've seen so far, I think you'll do just fine.

Just make sure to keep sharing images.

I have finally made the DHD lights work lights when the buttons are pressed. I posted a short video of it on the site if anyone wants to see it: https://stargate.datarommet.com/2020/04/22/dhd-lights/

The lights in the "Chevron V" is still a work in progress.

A new update is available with new chevron lights. It was a tight fit, but it worked out in the end:
