I very much liked seeing Adam and Michael back. I did hope Dean/Sam mentioned they were only given a chance to either save Adam entirely or retrieve Sam's missing soul. But I think Dean addressed that by saying they thought the Cage was out of reach, but they clearly didn't do enough to try.

And I liked that Adam recognized that Sam and Dean tried to stop him from accepting to be Michael's vessel. He doesn't know them, but that stuck with him.

It's interesting that Michael can just open a door to Purgatory, when not even Raphael (another archangel) couldn't do it. I guess with Michael being the oldest angel means he has a bit more power, even when not using his sword or true vessel Dean.
