I wish this (and other shows) would stick to established cannon.

Early in the episode, Supergirl is battling the new? villian, who asks if SG really needs air, and then tries to deprive her of it.

It is well established that Kryptonians can function in space. In the 1980's Superman films, the 3 villians that escaped the Phantom zone clearly showed that they can live in the near perfect vacuum of space. Superman himself also demonstrated the ability, going into space several times.

What, female Kryptonians don't have the same abilities?

And it's about time they got rid of James. They just didn't have a role for him.

We have been over this several times. The comics have rebooted Kryptonians powers several times. Modern versions need oxygen

Then they should create a new character, with the abilities they want. It has already been established that Kryptonians don't need oxygen.

But, then, they couldn't tie in to the established marketability of Supergirl, for example.

In the 1960s. You're ignoring the changing nature of the source material to fit your belief of the old story is the only valid one

            And the 1960's didn't happen?

The "old" story is still valid, the events showing no need for air did happen, they were on the screen. The creators of a reboot should honor what has gone before in the franchise they choose to work in. Otherwise, they should create their own character. But again, they want the existing brand name. don't they?

Get off your soapbox. Comics retcon their characters all
