Could I watch Picard having never seen much Trek apart from the new movies (Discovery is on my watchlist when I get around to it too so same question for that).

I have a basic knowledge of Trek history having read up a bit and lurking on this sub (also catching the odd episode as my dad watches it (funnily enough, how I also got into SG and in turn finding this forum)).

You probably need to see Nemesis. Seeing TNG allows to get more out of the Picard references
