Can someone explain why the story could not have had Neeva and Jennifer as themselves since everyone saw them as their original selves? Why did there have to be the difference, that everyone saw Neeva as Jennifer except for us? Is that how it was when Daniel and Vala were in that situation? I don't remember now.

Yes. The point was to give the actors something to do other than lie on a table the whole time and have completely unknown actors portray them for the whole episode. This then became the established format for portraying stone based body swamping.Is that how it was when Daniel and Vala were in that situation?
