Valen, their ancient leader, is human, and discovered making a suicide run at the Minbari flagship. Similar plot element to the Battletech novels. Only the Minbari have tractor beams and holographic bridges.
But this story only makes sense, if humanity were once more advanced than the Minbari. That's the Minbari's stake in humanity.
