Looking for Hive ship room construction tips

Does anyone have links to, or knows themselves how the prop department created the looks of the walls in the hive ships? Like the “skin” with holes stretched over openings and across walls, hidden light sources etc? I want to redecorate the room in my house where I keep my bugs and spiders to look like a room on a hive but don’t have a clue as to what materials to use and such. I know on the show a lot of elements were poured plaster or resin. I don’t have the space and (more to the point) the finances for that large an undertaking. But if I can do smaler scale things in a small room it will look fine.
Any ideas or places to look?
