    Update from WraithTech :

Silly me, I was tired and I skipped Tantalus. It was quite obvious. My bad.

If you noticed there are such episode titles, which have got hardcore mythological reference (like Nemesis, Aurora, Ethon), while other rather has got religious concepts. Even other episodes have got clever references to the storyline. Every writer works differently, but it is nice to discover such little things.

I love mythology, so I am planning to make additional lists as well:
    - all Goa'uld characters
    - all Asgard characters
    - all ships and bases
    - all planets
    - any other cultural / mythological reference from scripts

I know these ones are 15-20 years old episodes and I make it only for fun. I love mythology as it says so much about a culture how rich was their fantasy and believes. So have fun and if you find anything interesting at re-watches, just share it here. Thank you.

I hate to break it, but only a fraction of it are actual mythological references. Many are metaphoric, some are literal.

For example, "Exodus" doesn't refer to the biblical story. The word is derived from the story yes, but the title refers to the term itself as mass immigration. "Evolution" also literally means evolution, referring to the super soldiers, and there's nothing mythological about it. "Redemption" refers to redeeming oneself, not in any way related to religion.

"Alpha", "Beta", and "Omega" are just call signs, although using the Greek alphabet instead of the NATO designations. "Korolev" refers to an actual real person, so does "Sun Tzu" (though he has a mythological status now).

"Nemesis" refers to being an annoying enemy (as in, the Replicators are a nemesis to the Asgard). Again, while it is derived from a myth, the title here is literal and doesn't refer to the myth.

    And "Vegas"? Come on, really?

You are right with titles referring to gods, obviously, and titles like "Torment of Tantalus", "Prometheus Unbound", "The First Commandment", "Ethon", "Avalon", "Camelot", and others. In those cases the titles refer to mythology and religion, but are used literally or metaphorically in the context of the episodes. Literal in the sense that the episodes are about them, metaphoric in the sense that they are thematically similar (Tantalus refers to Daniel and his growing obsession with the "map").

Okay, fair enough... That is the reason I have said it above "mythological, religious or cultural reference", just I didn't put this in the thread's name.
