Good to hear. Your new avatar is lovely. As always.

I was wondering if some talented SG fans could make a few concept arts for a potential new SG spinoff. Like a new stargate type or some weird aliens or some alien landscape with a stargate. Maybe those pictures would convince the SG fans and the MGM about the potential of the Stargate. Or they would be made simply just for fun. This type of "campaign" would be more effective than postcards. IMHO.

Not sure if you guys are into that kind of game, but gosh you need to try Space Engineer! It's now in 4k HD and the graphics are astounding! They added planets (solar system), atmospheric - hydrogen (and ion) thrusters, planetary rovers, even warp modules.
Had a gaming laptop for years. Works just fine.

Played Space Engineers, but has it ever become a game? Because every time i played it, it was a barebones "ship designer" with some exploration, but otherwise had little gameplay going for it.

I'm still waiting for the rest of Halo (as in the Master Chief Collection) to be released on PC, then that and Infinite will be an instant buy for me. Although I have an Xbox 360, it's not for shooter games as I don't like playing them with a controller.

On another note, still related to games, I'm about done with this school year (and long story short, I'm quitting school, for the lack of a better term). What I have done in the past 9 weeks is develop a very, very simple third-person prototype game around Stargate. What I intend to do going forward is keep working on it to at least create a short demo of the core gameplay and story. Though it's likely not going to be more than that, I think the time is right to try and make an indie game with A(AA) quality. I'm currently reorienting my schedule to be able to plan better, and I also intend to keep everyone updated on GW, Twitter and my personal blog (and maybe SGC, god help me, just to get more direct exposure towards TPTB).

Now that have more time and freedom to develop games, I should be able to make something a lot faster. If Stargate doesn't turn out as I hope, I can always strip out anything related to it and replace it with my own IP, so no work is wasted.

I've heard of it, but the only PC game I play, or used to play was The Sims. I prefer my consoles.

There was news that Halo 5 was going to be released for PC but that turned out to be wrong, so not sure if it will ever happen -- for any of the games.

Supposedly Halo Infinite will be for Xbox One and Windows 10 (aka the new platform Microsoft has made) and there are suggestions/rumors that the Master Chief Collection may also be released on Windows 10 (considering they're remastering the remaster after it flopped).

I would strongly suggest to play Mass Effect 1-2-3 if you would like to try a nice action / RPG scifi game. Really good voice actors and lots of memorable dialogues from NPCs. It was one of the best scifi experience in the last 10 years.

Talking about Stargate FPS, these fans have made an excellent work on the SGC model :

Even David Hewlett had a look at it in 2015:

Mass Effect is unfortunaly one of those games I can't seem to find time for to play. I'm only now starting on Assassin's Creed.

I played Mass Effect to death, because, you know, it's the only video game that's that similar to Stargate. I always get the same jolly feeling playing the games as when I watch Stargate. And, you know, in both cases the last thing that came out wrecked the franchise and TPTB are messing it up even more (referring to SGU and ME Andromeda, followed by Origins and Anthem).

On the topic of video games, i'd want some sort of FPS/TPS set in the Stargate setting, but i don't quite think it would be a success. that genre is the sort of thing that requires a lot of work for the game be worthwhile yet i don't think it's an IP that would really attract the sort of developers who could do it well. One thing i do think could work though is a Ship-based Strategy game, like this:

                    https://store.steampowered.com/app/5...tica_Deadlock/

I'm not quite sure just how popular the new BSG was in comparison to Stargate as a whole, but if BSG can get a reasonbly good quality, fairly well received and successful strategy game this long after release of the show, there's a chance for Star-gate...if MGM what any interest in that sort of thing.

I think the opposite. Unlike Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek, Stargate isn't a space-based setting. It's from planet-to-planet through the Stargate following small teams on adventures, so a space-based game is very outside the scope of what Stargate stands for, at least with the mainline setting. If it was set in the distant future with a larger military force, sure, but then it's less Stargate and more Star Trek.

The Stargate is what the Galactica is to BSG, what the Enterprise is to Star Trek, and what the TARDIS is to Doctor Who. So a video game should reflect that.

I still remember how much I waited this game. There are a few gameplay videos on the YouTube and they have got a few audios of the different missions. The graphic was not so good even almost 10 years ago and the gameplay looked pretty bad, but it had definately a Stargate feeling. Asgard ships, Jaffa enemies, Tok'ra tunnels, Kelownian conquest of Anubis etc. I wish somebody could make a proper remake with the latest FPS engines.

Parrot Analytics has some interesting things to say about The Global Interest in Stargate: Origins:

Looking at individual markets over the last 90 days, Stargate: Origins is particularly popular in France (2.62 Demand Expressions per capita, DEX/c), Netherlands (1.74 DEX/c) and Russia (1.72 DEX/c). We note in particular that France actually has 55.9% more demand per capita than the U.S.

Our global demand data clearly shows that MGM has missed out on a direct-do-consumer distribution opportunity by restricting All-Access (and consequently Stargate: Origins) to only 6 markets – the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, Australia and New Zealand; particularly it means the company has not capitalized on the very strong demand in France.

Supporting this, our examination of the breakdown of French demand for the month after the release shows that a higher-than-usual amount of demand is due to downloads/streaming. This is not surprising as French Stargate fans are not able to watch it legally.

While a full international release has many challenges, content availability positively impacts piracy and, perhaps more importantly for a franchise where the fanbase is so important, avoids annoying fans who live in the “wrong” market.

And apparently Origins actually performed rather well.

Luckily for MGM, Stargate: Origins has performed well in the USA. With around 2.5 times the average demand of a sci-fi title, Origins is a solid performer in the genre, placing it around the performance of titles like The Expanse (now moving to Amazon Video), Travelers and Killjoys.

I... I... how? How can it be so popular in the Netherlands just after France? I mean, how?

How can it be more popular in such a tiny country than in the United States and Canada without having access? I mean, this is only the legally-accessible portion right? Only the first three episodes are free here, compared to all 10. So... how!?
