I was originally going to put this in the Star Trek section but this is a wet dream for any scifi fan that loves starships.
It's a multipayer game where you guys crew a starship. You have the captain, helmsman, tactical advisor, and engineer.
The helmsman controls the ship. They drive, can evade enemies and control the ship's overall direction. In a fight, it's up to you to make sure we don't get shot.
The tactical advisor controls the weapons and scanners. Find just where to target on a ship and blast it. You can even pick which specific parts of an enemy ship to fire at.
And the engineer controls power management. In a fight? Engineer diverts power to shields to make them stronger. Divert power to weapons to increase range. Divert power to engines to move faster. But you have to know which to pick since you only have so much power to divert.
Then there's the captain, who has access to all the mission objectives. They get little tips from HQ on what's happening and how to proceed.
There are roles that can be done by whoever has free hands (who's not the captain), such as cyber warfare. Whoever is least busy may be able to disrupt the enemy's shields, engines, or weapons. Give you an advantage in a fight.
Even if you don't have equipment or the friends for it, find your favorite let's player and watch them play it. It's a scifi fan's wet dream to pilot a starship like this.
