How many BBC actors have played DR Who?

    Hi,

    My Best guess:

    Doug vV

    Accoding to Wikipedia (outdated)

    William Hartnell (First Doctor)
    Patrick Troughton (Second Doctor)
    Jon Pertwee (Third Doctor)
    Tom Baker (Fourth Doctor)
    Peter Davison (Fifth Doctor)
    Colin Baker (Sixth Doctor)
    Sylvester McCoy (Seventh Doctor)
    Paul McGann (Eighth Doctor)
    Christopher Eccleston (Ninth Doctor)
    David Tennant (Tenth Doctor)
    Matt Smith (Eleventh Doctor)
    Peter Capaldi (Twelfth Doctor)

Other actors to play Dr Who for the BBC:

Adrian Gibbs - Logopolis, Castrovalva - Doctor (14?)
Richard Hurndall - Hurndall replaced William Hartnell, who had died in 1975, as the First Doctor for the show's 20th anniversary special. (Doctor 1)
Michael Jayston - The Trial of a Time Lord - The Valeyard (an evil version of the Doctor, existing somewhere between his twelfth and final incarnations). (Doctor 15?)
Geoffrey Hughes - The Ultimate Foe - Mr Popplewick (a disguise used by The Valeyard) (Doctor 15?)
Toby Jones - "Amy's Choice" - The Dream Lord (Doctor 16?)
John Guilor - Planet of Giants DVD - The First Doctor's re-dubbed voice work in the reconstruction of the original 3rd and 4th episodes. (Doctor 1)
John Hurt -depending on chonology, this should be doctor 7.5 or 8.5. The Doctor's incarnation known as the War Doctor (13th Doctor)

The Dream Lord is basically the same thing as the Valeyard, but born directly from the Eleventh Doctor, not in-between two other incarnations.

Depends on how and who you want to cound. Off the top of my head?

1: Billy Hartnell + Richard Hurndall (for The Five Doctors)
      2: Patrick Troughton
3: Jon Pertwee + Tim Treloar (for Big Finish)
      4: Tom Baker
      Watcher: Adrian Gibbs
      5: Peter Davison
      6: Colin Baker
      7: Sylvester McCoy
      8: Paul McGann
      Shalka: Richard E. Grant (non-canon)
      War: John Hurt
      9: Chris Eccleston
      10: David Tennant
      Meta-Crisis: David Tennant
      10.5: David Tennant
      11: Matt Smith
Dream Lord: Toby Jones (not really an incarnation, just a mental manifestation)
      12: Peter Capaldi
13: insert your favourite rumour here
      Valeyard: Michael Jayston
      The Curator: Tom Baker

Unbound 1st: Geoffrey Bayldon (Big Finish)
Unbound 3rd: David Warner (Big Finish)

These, of course, don't count instances of body-swapping, or Big Finish's Companion Chronicles companion actors doing their Doctor, or Sylv wearing a blonde wig and C.Baker's costume in Time and the Rani, and a multitude of other tiny exceptions.

Paul McGann played the 8th Doctor for the BBC in the 7-minute vignette The Night of the Doctor, where John Hurt also appeared as the War Doctor.

The TV movie was also partially a BBC production.
