    Towards the 6th anniversary of the series finale of SGU

    In just 1 week - on May 9, 2017, Victory Day and the 72nd anniversary of the liberation of Prague - the whole SG fandom all over the world marks as one the 6th anniversary of the series finale of SGU and of the Stargate television franchise. As we mark this historic anniversary we reflect on the 14 years Stargate has been in the television screens of millions of people all over the world, and the impact it felt on us all.

    May this day be remembered as an end of an era, and look forward towards the future of Stargate.

    A reminder for those planning to mark this anniversary on this the 20th anniversary year of SG-1:

This means only a few of you fans who have family or friends working will be allowed. As per the NORAD-NORTHCOM FB page these are allowed only for those people and/or groups who "meet the specific NORAD- USNORTHCOM mission-nexus requirements. Groups must have a mission-critical rationale for visiting the mountain, where the tour is essential in performing their daily functions in defending the homelands".

    For only those SG fans in the US, especially those among you who live in Colorado, if you are to plan to go ahead, please contact the NORAD Public Affairs Office or at the Petersen AFB PAO in Colorado Springs. Make sure to bring federal ID cards.

    And for more things to do in Colorado Springs, check out http://www.visitcos.com/ to learn how to plan a future visit.

    I therefore recommend all of you SG fans to visit the following places instead: (overseas fans may be advised to file their US tourist visas in advance at the local US embassy)

    * United States Air Force Academy (visit http://www.academyadmissions.com/visit-the-academy/)
    * Peterson Air and Space Museum on Peterson AFB, Colorado Springs (requires a base pass placed in advance of your visit, see https://petemuseum.org/visitor-information/ for visitor access info)
    * Schriever AFB (see http://www.schriever.af.mil/index.asp for more info, visitor pass required)
    * Fort Carson, home of the US Army 4th Infantry Division (visit www.carson.army.mil/DES/sac/visitor-access.html for visitor information, recommended for the US fans)
    * National Museum of World War II Aviation (see http://www.worldwariiaviation.org/in...eum-directions, individual or group registration required)
    * US Olympic Training Center (see http://www.teamusa.org/about-the-uso...-springs/visit for visitor info)
    * Colorado Springs and Interurban Railway Museums (check out http://mcrsteam6.wix.com/csir)
    * For more info on the space themes of the franchise visit the Space Foundation Discovery Center (http://www.spacefoundation.org/Museum)

    For those who will also spend their vacation outside Colorado Springs I recommend:

    * Rio Grande Scenic Railroad (http://www.coloradotrain.com/rides/)
    * Royal Gorge Railroad (https://royalgorgeroute.com/)
    * Royal Gorge Zipline Tours (http://www.royalgorgeziplinetours.com/)

    And for those who want to mark these days of importance in Stargate history within the mountain, I therefore recommend the following:

    * Cheyenne Mountain State Park (http://cpw.state.co.us/placestogo/Pa...eyennemountain)
    * Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (http://www.cmzoo.org/)
    * And a stay for a few days at the Broadmoor Hotel (see https://www.broadmoor.com/ for more info, as well as to plan for a reservation in advance)

    Plus a visit to the Broadmoor World Arena may be needed, especially if you want to try out in speed-skating and hockey. Reservations are needed.

    One more thing:

    I recommend spending some time in these days at the America The Beautiful Park (for info and visitor reviews see http://www.visitcos.com/venue/parks/...Beautiful-Park, https://www.tripadvisor.com.ph/Attra..._Colorado.html and http://www.colorado-springs-vacation...iful-park.html). Named after the song by Katharine Lee Bates and Samuel Ward and opened in 2007 the park features the two Egyptian style obelisks and the Julia Penrose Fountain, which is aimed at Cheyenne Mountain (the mountain can be viewed from there). Wikipedia states that these resemble elements from SG-1 and the 1994 movie, the fountain itself resembles the Stargate itself used in both the movie and the 3 SG TV series. If you're there on these days, make sure to spend some quite times of reflection on these 14 years of the Stargate franchise on television.

    And also for those outside the US make sure to prepare to obtain Canadian tourist visas in order to visit Vancouver, Canada, where most of the 3 SG series were filmed. Visit http://www.tourismvancouver.com/ for more information and to help plan your stay. Info on series filmed locations and places to visit in the Vancouver area will be posted in the coming days, since a visit there may be the nearest to being there in Colorado Springs itself.
    And for those who are in Canada or are planning to be there for the anniversary -
