In Planet of the Dead we see Lady Christina pair up with the Doctor, then at the end, ASK to join him in the TARDIS.
10 declines her request, and so instead she steals the gravity-defying bus and flies off into the night.
Imagine if she had in fact become the companion... Unlike most companions, she was an action seeking criminal looking for her next adrenalin hit... Where other companions urge consideration, she would have been pushing the Doctor into situations he perhaps shouldn't go near...
I guess we ended up with a kind of similar scenario with Clara... but Christina was better... :}
