Ok, so the Asgard discovered a replicator(s) on some random planet, and not knowing what it was or the danger it represented took it/them onboard. Only to have it/them assimilate the ship. When the Atlantis expedition discovered the Asurans he began researching their base code and changing it. Thor said that they had discovered a command in Reese to summon all replicators to "come forth", right? So dumb question here, instead of activating that code, why not try to write a new command to tell the others to self destruct? If the Asgard were so smart that should've been something to consider, unless you wanna argue that McKay was smarter than the Asgard? And in his mind he could argue that point with himself, but that's an argument for another time.

The Replicators had no true basecode. They were completely free to alter whatever they wanted to. The Asurans on the other hand had a basecode they could not alter.
The Replicator's base functions meant spreading, adapting and surviving. Anything that counters those base 3 would instantly be detected and shut off. A shutdown code would contradict their basic functions and thus would be stopped, especially since the code may take a while to spread and even mere seconds would be enough for the Replicators to shut out the command.
Therefore, the only way to lure the Replicators would be to use a code that would not contradict their nature and trap them.

Not that it matters: the Asgard were losing. They had few options and little time to work out the details.

Clearly the Replicators understood Asgard technology better than the Asgard.

Here's a thought....Reese made the initial MW replicator(s) as a "toy", and everybody's reaction was fear of her and her "toys." As a defense mechanism she ordered them to replicate at all costs and protect her. There was no evidence of replicators left on the planet when SG-1 discovered Reese. Question is where did they go? How did they get off the planet? If they didn't get off the planet, and that's where the Asgard found them why didn't they also discover Reese? If they did build a ship and get off that planet why didn't they assimilate other worlds in the MW?
