I don't think we were ever meant to get an answer to that, no matter how long the show ran."A society grows great when old men plant trees, the shade of which they know they will never sit in. Good people do things for other people. That's it, the end." -- Penelope Wilton in Ricky Gervais's After Life

"According to Joseph Mallozzi if they were able to make a third season of Stargate Universe, they would show Planet builders in it. On his blog, he stated that they envisioned the planet-builders to be an extremely advanced race who were very powerful but were very different when compared to the Ancients. They also did not possess the extensive knowledge of the Ancients nor did they evolve from a physical form similar to Humans.[1]"
To bad i really wanted to know where they were heading with that idea

Maybe not the answer, or the best possible answer, but I have an answer that fits and maybe entertains and elicits some "sense of wonder" too.
Readable in one (1) sitting. Contains tiny amounts of:
* Aliens
* Ascended Beings
* Stellar Engineering
* Xeno-Archaeology
* Dr. N. Rush
* Conflict
* Death
Screenplay format. 100% Canon Guaranteed or your money back.
Comments, suggestions welcome!

The Furling race would become the Straegis race in Stargate : Worlds (the cancelled MMORPG game). This flag reminded me to one of their concept art :

Here you can read some part of the main story:

This game was so promising even if the gamestyle was a bit odd. So many new materials would have been introduced to the audience. New Jaffa Guards, playable Asgard race (with personal battle drones), playable Goa'uld characters. Hopefully SG:C will write a series of article about the SG:W or we can do it here in posts. Even if the game is cancelled, some gameplay videos are on YouTube. And the concept arts are interesting anyway as this game was meant to be part of the canon.

Here is one more Straegis photo:

Maybe the Furlings were meant to be these the elemental beasts:

JM also posted a concept art a few months ago:

We will never know. One picture even states that the biggest ones are some kind of Titan. Maybe it was a reference to the size and not directly the Titans in mythology. Anyway we can see these floating rock parts as there are burning or non burning versions, but this is only my guess. Maybe the Furlings were not furry at all."I was hoping for another day. Looks like we just got a whole lot more than that. Let's not waste it."
"Never underestimate your audience. They're generally sensitive, intelligent people who respond positively to quality entertainment."
"Individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and philosophers of today, but the core of science fiction, its essence, has become crucial to our salvation, if we are to be saved at all."
