If they are reading, if only they would act on our feedback. The TopFan app has stolen art and insults to the actors with little to no moderation and much of the world was excluded from streaming. Most of the Fandemonium books are atrocious, full of canon contradictions and outdated language one would expect from a grade B 1950s movie. I like some of the early Legacy books, but even those contradict canon at times. There were the missing parts from the BestLock kits. Fans fill the void with unofficial items we want, such as logo patches, 3D printable ships, and jewelry.

I haven't given up on these comics yet. The delays do put me off, but that might be on MGM's side too (in which case, it would still be nice if MGM read these threads). The anthology could have been better explained, but it was a new thing they tried and I am willing to give some slack for that. If they do more, maybe they can take this thread's feedback into consideration (again, if anyone reads it).

I really like the issues with SWAT's art-- he had been posting in here and seemed to be listening to the fans. Gateways #2 is my favorite issue so far and I still keep looking back to the art.

Singularity #3 cover art has been released, no dates for when 1-3 will be available though. I do see 2 and 3 look to be a new artist to the SGA series.

I checked for them on the American Mythology website, but I can't find anything about shipping (though I suspect international shipping is probably costing more than all issues combined in my case -- and I don't want them in digital format).

Edit: MGM's people don't read these forums or these threads. And they also, don't read the comics or books. They simply have someone who is responsible for making sure the licenses issued are not used to spread -- I don't know -- porn fiction involving the characters. The books don't even need to be canon with the existing timelines as long as they don't get too out of control (but what is too out of control if you look at Origins).

Maybe the editing is contracted out, done by people who haven't even seen any of the shows. The SGA books and SGA comics so far seem to be stringently screened for the slightest hint of shipping, but violence in the SGA books gets a lot of leeway. I feel as if there is a Joker noone-bats-an-eye-vs-everyone-loses-their-minds meme in there somewhere. The SGA comics so far feel on par with the SGA tv series in terms of the violence level though. And, yes, the books have a lot of AU timelines.

What I remember Jo Graham once mentioning, the editor is employed by MGM, but isn't a "fan" or someone who's intimately familiar with the content of stargate. So basically, the most basic guidelines.

Is the price for the paperback in the UK really 18 pound sterling? 17 euro on Amazon.de and the kindle editions are 3 euro.

The irony here is that that they are doing it exactly the wrong way. If there was nasty fan fiction out there, people will know exactly that it's not something endorsed by the studio. It's just fan fiction.

I'm amazed they can't see this simple truth: When there's licensed stuff out there which is of extremely low quality, but it carries the official endorsement of MGM -- the damage to the 'brand' of Stargate is much greater.

It sends a message to fans and investors that they don't care about quality, and will just milk SG to make a quick buck.

I can't imagine the license fee for comics to be more than $5k-$10k, so it's not worth their time to establish quality, and, if they're going to sell out for that little, it shows that they really couldn't care less about the show.

Hopefully the rumblings we've been hearing about folks inside MGM being fans wanting to bring back the show are true, and hopefully those people are more committed. One clear sign of that would be the cancellation of poor licensees. How long have AM been producing the comics?

Well, the person who contacted me from the Stargate Command team indicated she was working as a consultant with MGM, and has been a longtime fan of the show. So, they definitely have people in their service -- outsiders still but fans nonetheless.

AM has been creating comics since early 2017, I think. Could be they made the announcement late 2016?

The AM comics were crowdfunded, the main SGA arc fund launched 12/2015 and the first SGA comic released about 4/2016:
    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...-books/updates

As of 7/2017, enough fans were still satisfied with the content of the SGA comics up to that point to also fund the first anthology to combine the first 6 SGA comic books. (It is a shame it is still so expensive, especially for international buyers.)

I still plan to keep buying the SGA ones-- they still have my attention and there are only 3 issues more to go in this 12 part arc.

Well, it feels as if it should be a year forward, because of all the delays. 2 years is a loooooong spread for 9 issues.

Yeah, I think the folks working on SGC are big fans, and I love their enthusiasm. They're not necessarily the same ones as who work on the licensing of the show. It's a big company after all. I'd bet the licensing is farmed out to someone else anyway.

If AM have been making comics since early 2016, I'm guessing the license will run out after 3 or 4 years, so I'm wondering if things will change after that. I really think fans deserve better, and hope MGM do too!

The license period does seem short. Fandemonium keeps renewing and expanding, according to wikia (I had no idea they could initially only sell in select countries): http://stargate.wikia.com/wiki/Fandemonium

QMx had great stuff, with a high demand especially for their coasters, but rumor has it their license ran out before they could make more or make an Atlantis version of the coasters or the rest of the SG1 figurines. Now, their Stargate stuff sells for a small fortune on eBay, whenever it rarely appears.

I also would have liked to have seen more of the Diamond Select action figures. Their run stopped and later season characters were never made.

Just saw sales figures for the comics.

The Atlantis collected paperback sold 321 copies. Ugh. http://www.comichron.com/monthlycomi...7/2017-10.html

    SGU #3 sold 2571 copies. Ouch. http://www.comichron.com/monthlycomi...7/2017-12.html

Despite all the fanfare and news about the comic being a continuation that's officially licensed, even #1 sold poorly: http://www.comichron.com/monthlycomi...7/2017-06.html : 2,586 copies.

Great sales finds, Langley_forum. It all goes back to what you said about listening to the customers. Today's consumer is more informed and expects media providers to be also. Calling the audience "shrill and ill-informed lemmings" or Tweeting posts that make jabs at younger generations and their ideals and aspirations is something people could often get away with decades ago. But, not now. This forum would be the better place to get that candid feedback, too, as it has a policy against sockpuppetry.

Yeah. Meanwhile, other shows, such as the current run of Voltron on Netflix, they listen to their fans, such as when bloggers kept asking for more female characters. It was a correct and reasonable request and it was done. (And, I have to add, this cartoon has a more sophisticated depiction of inter-civilizational and racial conflict, not resorting to blanket statements or calling opponents "it.")

His and hers sets? Is this to support the comics or are there different handling rules? If the latter, I'm one of those types who washes my hands before handling my comics and CD booklets and makes others do so too.

This issue was back on track, clear to read, and enjoyable. Just 2 more issues left in the arc...
