as far as capitalism goes....if you have people voting themselves largesse from the public treasury then the solution is simple (in theory)...close that particular loophole by constitutional amendment (and I would argue that being able to vote yourself largesse on the taxpayer dime is really a more cleverly disguised form of socialism anyway)

Agree with you I do; theoretically, the problem is easy to solve. Change voting requirements so that you must be employed in the private sector, supporting yourself to vote. Some exemptions would be needed; police/military/first responders, or retired from a qualifying job.

But the idea is that you must be pulling the cart rather than just riding on it.

But as a practical matter, since the constitution would need to be changed, it's not possible to make those changes.

actually the reasoning's quite simple you already have the bad side of socialism (Government control of the people aka. oppression) so while you're at it might as well vote for real full socialism & have the good side as well (Government tending to the people aka. welfare)

If the authorities want to take action against a drug user or even a dealer, they have to prove the accusation beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The police have to have hard evidence, obtained in a legal manner to get a conviction.
