Trapper would've thought that Winchester was a stuffed shirt, to say the least.

Winchester would've though that Trapper was no better than Hawkeye. But it's also depending on if the writers had Winchester be morally outraged over Trapper being married, but messing around with the nurses. (The upper crust of Boston was sometimes known for being morally outraged over such behavior.)

The question is, what would Frank Burns have made of Charles Emerson Winchester III?

I think Winchester is what Burns wants to be (or maybe Burns' wife wants him to be). Rich, well-connected & a doctor at one of the better hospitals.
At first they might bond over looking down on Hawkeye & Trapper (or B.J.) because of their antics, but then Winchester will realize what just kind of guy Burns is (especially in regard to medical competence) and separate himself from him as soon as possible.

I'm a part of a M*A*S*H group on Facebook and we've had discussions about who is better Frank or Charles. I say Frank was more fun to be mean to and to watch, while Charles was more eloquent in his comebacks. What do you all think?

I don't think either is "better", I think they are both different.
Frank Burns' routines and BS grew stale after a while, So Winchester was a nice change of pace, but had the timelines been reversed, with Winchester appearing first, his snobbery may have grown old, too.

    I'd a weird M*A*S*H dream last night.

    Something about Radar learning ventriloquism...

Okay, I've got one for you. If you had to chose just one episode that was your favorite, what would it be? Mine is 'Dear Mildred". I loved that episode because of the fact that Radar found Sophie, the Colonel's horse. When he gives Col. Potter the rope, I loved that moment!

"Dreams", from season 8. No question.

I've had weird dreams like that. And the ones I tell people about are just the ones that are fit for polite company.

Watching M*A*S*H reruns on the WGN network Right now is the one where they had to bug out the nurses because of an enemy attack, and they're watching Franks home movies. ROFL!!

I'm thinking about doing a Hawkeye Pierce cosplay for warm weather conventions next year.

I can use the BDU trousers from my Battlestar Galactica gear, my old dog-tags from my SG gear, I've got a Hawaiian shirt that's a close match, and a straw hat that's good enough for the time being.

All I really need to buy is a M*A*S*H 4077th t-shirt, a toy stethoscope, and maybe a plastic martini glass.

    What do you guys think?

For anyone who gets the MeTV channel, the ending episode 'Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen' is being shown tomorrow on Veteran's Day at 6 pm Central Daylight Time. They're also showing interviews from some of the cast and crew as well. I'm recording it to watch later. Can't wait!

Just for future reference, does anybody know the details of Hawkeye's dogtags?

I know the ones Alan Alda wore on the show belonged to a real Korean war veteran.

BruTak, I'm part of a group on Facebook all about M*A*S*H, and this is what they told me about his dogtags and boots...

Alda discussed the boots and dog tags in “Memories of M*A*S*H,” a retrospective originally broadcast in November of 1991: “At a certain point I never had to think about it. I just felt I was him as soon as I put the clothes on. I loved those boots. I think Laurence Olivier said something about a character starting with the shoes. And they gave me a pair of boots that had been worn in the army by somebody. They just felt perfect. And I wore them no matter how shredded they got. I wore them all the way through for eleven years ’cause without those boots I didn’t feel like the guy. And I took them home with me. That was I think the only thing I took home with me. That and the dog tags which I wore every day. They were real dog tags from two real guys. Hercey Davenport and Morris D. Levine [actual spelling unknown].”

I've found this straw hat on eBay, and to my eyes it's a pretty close match to Hawkeye's.
