Status Quo guitarist, Rick Parfitt, 68, died of an infection in Spain.

And just in...

Singer George Michael, 53, died today after his Last Christmas.

It just doesn't end...

I heard about Michael (SAD as hell), but Rick Parfitt??! Been a LONG time since i even heard anyone else mention Status quo, one of my fave 80s bands (well more 70s/80s)..

This is certainly turning out to be a BAD year for my icons from the 70s and 80s..

I was almost certain she wasn't going to (or hadn't?) survive the incident on the airliner last week. From the first day, all we heard was "she is stable". No other details, progress reports or such. 60 is too damned young to die from the ticker.

She was without air for approximately 10 minutes -- that pretty much seals the deal.
So yeah, pretty damn serious.

Also, I still can't get passed the fact that Carrie is Debbie Reynolds' daughter.
I love her in Singing In The Rain.

I knew her mother was a star from the SW promo materials I read in '77*, but I never did see anything she was in.

*Yes, I am old enough where I was an adult when SW came out and I still remember the Star Wars mania that swept this country for about the next year. Heck, both the "main" theme music and the cantina band made the top 40 radio playlists. And you couldn't pick up a magazine without reading an article about at least one of its stars.
