Suppose Q from Star Trek came to you one day and said he would like to move you to Earth San Francisco in the 24th century. Would you want to do it and what would you do when you lived there?

Yes, I would.
I would probably spend my time in a school of some description, and hope that via my education I could provide something useful to people.

A definite yes. I would do much the same as Gatefan. Go back to school. Study and perhaps become a teacher for history. I'd certainly be able to present a unique insight to the past. In my spare time I'd concentrate on my writing, and for vacations I'd visit some of the 24th Century's best tourist destinations.

I think living in the 24th Century might make Stargate seem a bit... redundant. If I were going to spend my time in the holodeck I think there would be far better places to recreate.

Yes, I would continue my social work education and join star fleet. It would be nice to have a job in my field and get explore different worlds (especially since I also have an Antropology background).

TOS era, I would go in a heartbeat.

But TNG era shows the federation to be more of a socialist/communist style government, and I don't think I would take that ride.

Not really. I mean for example, Sisko's father's restaurant is his restaurant. It's owned by him. However that is an interesting concept in of itself since there is no money in the 23rd or 24th Centuries. To be fair I think you can't equate it to a Socialist or Communist state since there is no possible equal to what is depicted in Star Trek. It's certainly not capitalist, but its still apparent that there is still personal ownership and people can and will follow their proffered professions.
