Even among the people who saw it, it seemed the general consensus was it was neither good nor bad, it was just meh.
It's not just that Luke a downtrodden grump. It's that it wasn't justified. Luke throwing his lightsaber over his shoulder is my favorite part of the movie. I went in not really caring and the moment that happened I went to the edge of my seat since it was clear something when awry for him and I wanted to know what. But the explanation given does not match his character.
Then you got things like an incompetent Holdo replacing the fan favorite Akbar for how Finn's story's arc slammed head first into a wall.
I'm not sure about the tales of the boycott. I'm not convinced but I feel it is a possibility. I completely don't buy it being movie fatigue though.
